Hello, all. :-) I'm new to the list (and BMWs)... i just sold my '90 Mustang LX that i've raced in Solo2 for the last 4 years to acquire my dream car... a '95 M3. I'm interested in buying a 95 violet/black M3/2 from a dealer in Victor, NY (20 minutes from Rochester), and was wondering if anyone that might live close by could stop by and take a look at it for me and report back (i'm in West Texas)? Please contact me privately for details if you can do this for me, and Thanks in advance! ChuckBrazeau.com

Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 06:17:59 -0800 (PST) From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] re: Radar & Speeding I would expect that 25W at 904nm could also burn your retina at close distances. The key is the cone angle of the beam. After a certain distance (maybe 10m?) the power density is low enough to be safe. They probably have a warning about looking directly into the beam at close distances, etc, printed on the gun. With that much power in the IR spectrum, I wonder if cops ever use the gun to heat their lunch.. -Matt --- Andy Radin <fourfa@mindspring.com> wrote: > Found this on a web FAQ: > > "Police lidar is 904 nanometers, 5 nanosecond pulses > of 25 Watt > instantaneous power delivered into a 4 milliradian > cone angle at 1 KHz > repetition rate." > > 25 watts is plenty to burn out your retina in > visible frequencies, so you're > not going to find visible spectrum LIDAR. 900 nm is > well into infrared. > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? #11. Taillight glitch - from Darling Christopher Maj AMC/CEXR
Top
Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 08:17:42 -0600 From: "Darling Christopher Maj AMC/CEXR" <Christopher.Darling-02@scott.af.mil> Subject: Taillight glitch The saga continues. Steve D has been showing his usual outstanding customer service and trying to isolate the problem with my new taillight, but we are starting to wonder if maybe the new light has some sort of defect. I pulled the BMW part number from the original taillight, but Steve says that according to the database that number has been superceded. So the new part number "should" work on my car. Again, as I mentioned before the only apparent difference between the two light assemblies is that one socket has seven pins and the new socket has six. The actual harness plug in the car has eight holes, I think. I've got several friends with E46 cars, but nobody local with an E36 that I can swap lights with, so I'm on my own. Do you guys have any idea what I should check to nail down why I am getting this "taillight failure" message? Perhaps one of you with a 95 M3 could go pull the plug on your left taillight and lemme know what you see? Thanks folks! Cod Major Chris Darling HQ AMC/CEXR DSN 779-0698, Comm (618) 229-0698 -----Original Message----- From: Steve D'Gerolamo [mailto:ultgar@earthlink.net] Sent: Thursday, March 14, 2002 7:18 AM To: Darling Christopher Maj AMC/CEXR Subject: Re: Taillight Part Number Just send it back in the original box. You won't be able to buy that light new any more (perhaps a used one)....as per the June 1999 price book, the part number 63-21-8-353-271 now supercedes to the 63-21-8-353-273. This is the part that I sent to you. This supercession is also documented on the current BMW ETK (parts CD). Your harness plus in and the lights work. There's got to be something else causing your problem. If you have any friends in the area with an E36 coupe, see if they'll lend you one of their assemblies for a quick test. This way we can determine if the new one I sent you has an internal defect.
