Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 12:08:20 -0500 From: Geof McLaughlin <gfmiiilist@usa.net> Subject: FS: New E36 M3 Front Brake Calipers PRICE REDUCED! I have a brand new set of BMW original front brake calipers for 1995-1999 M3s (part # 34 11 2 227 515 left, #34 11 2 227 516 right) that I bought as spares, but never used. These are not aftermarket calipers and have the ///M stamped in the caliper body. BMW retail is $442 per caliper. I will sell both for $350 firm (plus shipping) which is much less than the price of even a single caliper. No other brake components (bracket, kingpin, etc.) are included, just the calipers themselves. Email me at gfmiiilist@usa.net. Thanks. Geof

#2. FS: Dinan CAI & Chip for 1995 E36 M3 (1/95+) - from Geof McLaughlin

It is the identical design and functions the same as the carbon fiber CAI. It includes the K&N performance air filter. I am also selling a Dinan performance chip for a 1995 E36 M3 with a build date of 1/95+ (i.e. w/EWS). I am asking $299 for both, but may be persuaded to sell the CAI and chip separately for the right price. Contact me at gfmiiilist@usa.net if interested. Geof

Yeah, it's rarely a convenient time or place for a mechanical... my radiator neck blew at the entry to Turn 1 at Willow Springs. Nice that it was a left hander so I could see through the window, cuz I couldn't see through the windshield at that point. W/S and I don't seem to get along too well. We'll see if my luck improves in 2 weeks (fingers crossed). For a diversion, check out http://www.ebaumsworld.com/pimpride.html Mike btw, apparently no adverse affect from my overheating incident, that was ~ 40k miles (many k on the track) ago. You thought it would happen at some convenient time maybe? <g> > Has anyone overheated their vehicle to borderline "in the red" and not > have any adverse effects? #7. rear trailing arm bushings update - from Jonathan Evans
Top
Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 14:07:12 -0500 From: "Jonathan Evans" <jonathanevans@hotmail.com> Subject: rear trailing arm bushings update Had 2 new 96+ bushings installed along with the Ground Control washer/spacer things installed yesterday. Mysterious bonk is gone. Ride is much better and even feels better on the highway (used to feel like flat tire in the rear). Rear end is firmly planted. 6 hours labor. The old bushings were installed crooked. That probably accelerated their early demise. Another data point. -Jonathan 95 M3

Possibly bad fuel, or just "one of those things". I've had a misfire once or twice since owning the car (3-1/2 years). Reset the fault code and you should be fine. Jim Bassett

When I test-drove the 325is race car, it overheated as I was returning to the owner's house (stuck thermostat). Car was in the red for a mile or so. No ill effects, runs just fine. Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 19:17:06 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] re: Radar & Speeding Does anyone know how much power the LIDAR jammers use? Given that their output is not as directed as that from a LIDAR, you'd think that they'd need to put out lots of power to be able to jam a LIDAR. By the way, don't assume (as I previously did) that LIDAR coud only be used during daylight hours, because the police needed to target a specific surface on your car (like a front license plate). I was hit with LIDAR at 3:00AM, and the V1 went into full scream mode. Apparently, the police just aim somewhere between your headlights, and fire away, hoping for a reading. BTW, he tagged me doing 82 in a 65 (I was actually several hundred feet in a 55 zone, approaching the posted 65 sign), and gave me a warning! He must have been looking for DUI violations. WHEW! ;-) -rb >Date: Thu, 14 Mar 2002 06:17:59 -0800 (PST) >From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] re: Radar & Speeding > >I would expect that 25W at 904nm could also burn your >retina at close distances.
