From looking at the wiring diagrams in Bentley, the missing pin is probably the OBC check connection. My understanding is that the 8th pin is where the rear foglight power is on the Euro models. The lower bulb is an 1157 but apparently has no power to the 21w filament which works as the Euro fog. After I confirm I'll have rear fogs as well. It is one of the last ones made by ProParts West and is a wonderful piece. I have decided not to turn my M3 into my track car but go another direction instead. I would prefer a local SF Bay Area sale as I am not sure how I'd ship it, but if the price is right, I'll bite. Asking $600 for the bar. Thanks, Rob

It can work in conjuntion with teh 8500 for the display or can work with another radar such as the V1. It jams the laser signal and notifys you when you reach the leagal speed, you press a button to release the jammer and reveal thespeed. The lade said its NOT a jammer its a shifter, whatever that means! should be about 400 installed. r "Weaseling out of things is important to learn. This is where I disagree, depends on the situation. When moving fast with low throttle, there's excess airflow over the engine, and the thermostat will keep temps to within a few degrees of it's opening temperature, with or without fan/s. I haven't yet seen data on what temps are seen in traffic or at the track with just the front pusher fan and with lower fan switch or an additional electric puller fan. But it seems obvious that under cruise (the majority of most people's miles) the engine will be running near 80C with an 80C thermostat. My personal opinion is that 80C is too low for *my* street car and the longevity, emissions, fuel economy, etc I'm looking for. YMMV. Dunno what PTG prioritizes, and the "that's how it's done, don't ask questions, they're smarter than you" attitude I've seen from people quoting their testing doesn't explain enough IMO. I prefer to use the 88C thermostat with a high-CFM electric puller. I'm installing a real coolant temp sensor soon, and plan to do back-to back tests with a few different configurations, just because I'm curious. andy r. 98 m3/2

Again, if you don't feel comfortable with it, don't do it. I don't think lowering the operating temp from 190d F to 176d F will make a difference. If anything, it would prolong engine life and some extra power. Too much heat in any engine is bad. If there was no heat in an engine, oil weights would be close to water. > > I prefer to use the 88C thermostat with a high-CFM electric puller. I have a poster of the older one with the silver M3 w/painted moldings and BBS RC wheels.. where it's like a house's garage with a track in the background. I saw the ad with the Red M3, thinking it was cool they were still using E36 M3's.. I even have considered ordering the poster of it (did they send you a free poster for your trouble? :) Was your car the one tested, with the autothority suspension and whatnot? Or was yours just for the picture? Anyway, congrats.. that's super cool. methinks they need to do an ad with a Daytona Violet M3.. :) - reid > Has anyone else got the May edition of European car? This is a great write-up. Thanks for sharing. I agree with someone else's post that I don't know how comfortable I'd be with this, despite the excellent horsepower improvements. Has anyone on the list had this mod on their street-driven car? Feedback? Is an electric pull-fan necessary and, if so, are there any good sources for the parts. -peterg (always searching for more power) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using HiSpeed Technologies Webmail. http://www.hispeed.com

However in addition to the cone angle, you also need to take into account duty cycle, which was quoted as 5 ns pulses repeated at a 1 kHz rate. If I haven't screwed up the calculation (!) that's a 0.5% duty cycle, making the 25W pulsed laser equivalent to 125 mW continuous. That's still not inconsequential, but at least it's not going to melt your shorts. Of course a collimated laser would maintain a much higher areal power density with distance. Neil 96 M3

Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2002 14:25:19 -0800 From: Steven Tom <stom@qualcomm.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] May European Car I still have to bug them for a poster. I don't know if they will do one or not. The picture was taken at Irwindale Speedway in LA. They didn't do the physical tests on my car they just reused the data from previous. It was a neat setup though. They picked my car up in an enclosed trailer on Monday (from San Diego to LA), full detail on the car on Tuesday, Shot the car on Wednesday, returned to me on Thursday in an enclosed trailer and re-washed. What did I end up with after this little opportunity??? I had an additional 8 miles on my car and 2 new sets of KD tires. Being that the KD's I had on my car were toast, it couldn't have been at a more opportune time. The weird thing is, I have BBS RC's as well. I asked them if they wanted to use them that they were welcome. Instead they wanted a "stock" looking M3. Fine by me. In the ad you'll notice that it mentions an autothority 95 M3. Well 95's came non-staggered. They specifically asked for a staggered setup. And, autothority did not do the suspension on my car. They added the sticker because that's what the original car had on it. Since then, the autothority sticker has been removed. steve >Date: Fri, 15 Mar 2002 13:58:39 -0800 (PST) >From: Reid Conti <reid@conti.net> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] May European Car > >I do remember looking specifically at that ad.
