Date: Sat, 16 Mar 2002 22:21:04 -0800 (PST) From: Zack Steinkamp <edsarkiss@yahoo.com> Subject: replacing belts hi list i'll be replacing my squeaky belts (main "polyribbed" and a/c) tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had any BTDT advice. i got the belts from my local stealer today for <gasp> $86 for both. i guess that's what i get for not planning ahead. i have the bentley book, but none of the pictures look like my engine. i have an 8mm allen socket (recommended as "the tool" in the book), but i just read something online that said you need a 10mm allen + regular socket. so can any of you who have done this clear it up for me? clearance up front is pretty tight, which i fear may lead to a pretty frustrating time... thanks in advance for any wisdom... zs __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 08:12:15 EST From: Shelhart2@aol.com Subject: Clear tail lense problem - help I installed some clear tail lenses on my 98 from Bekkars. Every once in a while I get the computer telling me "brake light failure". They are working fine but something is telling the computer there is a problem. Grounds look fine, put in OEM BMW bulbs, etc. What gives? TIA. Shel Hart 98 M3

Keep us all updated. I've been running the stock thermostat, watter wetter, and the low temp fan switch. Everything has been working like a champ, even in 80 degree weather and stop and go traffic. I'm sure it's a different story altogether in 100+ temps, which are common in southern regions. It's amazing how effective just the aux pusher fan is. When playing around with stock vs. the lower temp fan switch, I disconnected the switch completely. Temp needle started moving past dead center rather quickly. I plugged the switch back in, and voila, dead center again. Jeff

#8. carbon/soot deposits around exhaust tips - from The Abels
Top
Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 08:21:49 -0600 From: "The Abels" <aAbel@austin.rr.com> Subject: carbon/soot deposits around exhaust tips Several, perhaps interrelated items: 1. I get a fair amount of carbon build-up inside the exhaust tips within a week's worth of driving. 2. I had a friend drive my car hard, while I watched him go by. During a gear shift, I saw a small puff of black smoke come out of the pipe. It was slight, but there. 3. I was running Amsoil 0W30, but my car tended to drink this stuff. I switched to BMW synthetic 5W30, and consumption is non-detectable on the street, and only about 1/2 Q from a full weekend of hot lapping. I'm running stock software, AA cat-back exhaust, and ECIS intake. Only other performance mods are the fan-delete, ASC-delete (MRoadster boot), and UDP. My driving habits might have something to do with it. My commute is 2.0 miles one-way. While I try to get the car out frequently for some spirited runs, this does not happen everyday. Thanks, Jeff

This is also the key for them to be tolerant to someone using an active countermeasure. It's the peak output that's factored into the SNR and the average that determines the safety of it. -Matt --- Neil Maller <neil.maller@gte.net> wrote: > However in addition to the cone angle, you also need > to take into account > duty cycle, which was quoted as 5 ns pulses repeated > at a 1 kHz rate. #10. [E36M3] Lambda Control Fault - from RogRacer@aol.com
Top
Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2002 12:20:07 EST From: RogRacer@aol.com Subject: [E36M3] Lambda Control Fault I'm getting a Lambda Control fault at idle. Upon throttle application, the CE light goes out, only to re-appear after about 10 seconds at idle. Note that his is NOT the same fault as an 02 sensor fault. I recently replaced the 02 sensor (was getting an 02 sensor fault prior to replacement), as well as the valve cover gasket. Has anyone got this fault in the past, and if so, what was the fix? I haven't found any "obvious" vacuum leaks. Any help appreciated. Roger W. Graves RogRacer@aol.com '95 M3
