If you rotated, you would be replacing all 4 every 30k, thus saving no money. Tire wear is tire wear. You don't magically add rubber to your rears when you move them to the front. Rotating helps balance wear on your tires. Rears tend to wear more across the middle, where the fronts tend to wear at the sides more, from cornering. Rotating may gain you a little, but not much. I think it's a good practice, and it's good to be able to rotate. I'd prefer to replace all 4 at once, too. It just doesn't really save you any money, that's all. > I really dont see any benefit to the stock stagger. Except, again, if BMW > considers it such a superior steering configuration, for feel, and for > handling....After all, they moved from 235s all around to the stagger....I'm > told this was not so much to improve steering feel, but rather to lessen > the relative tendency to oversteer they found with the egalitarian > setup..... From the E36M3 FAQ: Q. What is the difference between a staggered and non-staggered tire setup? A. Model year 1995 M3s came from the factory with a non-staggered setup (all four wheels and tires are the same size), whereas 1996-1999 M3s were fitted with a staggered setup (see wheel and tire sizes below). Some believe this was BMW's way of reducing oversteer to help American drivers, but since the change had been implemented worldwide, it may not be the case. As you may have guessed, the original non-staggered setup is more balanced and allows the car to rotate or oversteer with less effort. All M3s can run either setup without any problems. - reid

My wife and I fight over who gets to drive. It really is a sweet vehicle with the ACE (active cornering enhancement) that comes with the 'performance' package. I have these springs on my 95 because I wanted to get rid of some of the factory body roll and drop it a tad (half an inch or so). I'm running them with the Bilstein Sports, and am very happy with the combo. If you live in a mountainous area with bad roads like I do and you don't want to drop the car down by 1"+, these are a great compromise. - Chris

Paul, Just this weekend I finally replaced my old and worn (75k) stock struts, putting in Koni SA's. This suspension change resulted in FAR more 'character change' (as you put it) than tire changes ever did. How has it changed? The car communicates how the road is to me so much better than it did before. It's back to the tight M3 that I knew when I first got the car. Swapping 245's up front resulted in a slight change in steering effort, and less understeer, but I tell ya, these new(-to-me) Koni's have me grinning every time I drive my car now. I would say the suspension has more of an impact on the that mythical 'steering feel' than the difference between 225's & 245's up front. At least that's what I'm feeling in my car now. Andrej '97 M3

Yes, it blocks operation of the sun visor, but it only blocks it right where it's all the way down and slightly forward.. so it only keeps you from pushing the visor ALL the way against the windshield. And yes, with the sun visor down it blocks the rear sensors and you cannot read the display, but I never use my visors. This is also the best place if you're gonna hardwire it into your map light. Makes for a very clean install. - reid > Group, > I just got a new Valentine One radar locator.
