I have to cycle the switch in big movements all around the floor setting and stop right at the little arrow to get the air to come out of the floor vents. Move one click either way and about 95% of the air volume is transferred to the dash or defrost respectively. I assume this switch operates some sort of bowden cable type assembly that is a bit sticky at the moment, but I thought it would be a good idea to see if anyone has dealt with this in the past before I tear the dash apart. Free time isn't quite as abundant as it used to be... As Tim alluded to, the M3 got one 'final' track day a few weeks back when the race car toasted a wheel bearing. Nice to have a back up just in case. Anyway, I'll put a big set of pliers on the ball joints tomorrow and see if I can find any play. Hopefully I won't find any and can put this off until another time. I have too much work to do on the 325i to be messing with the M3 much. The M3 got new front control arm bushings last year so that is not a problem. Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 22:23:28 EST From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: more horsepower? Just got my latest copy of Bavarian Autosport. They show their version (in red plastic) of the OBDll power programmer. They claim 40hp gain @5200rpm and 36ft-lb torque gain at 5200rpm! Are they screeching the truth? Isn't this Jim C's shark injector??? The above numbers are more than Jim would claim, I think? Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA AS Champion 1997 & 2000 BSP Champion 2001

I realize that if you just relied on the sound of the pump to tell you its triggered, thats no proof that its getting water. >>Where is your pressure switch mounted<< Right next to the strut tower, per AA instructions. >>Do you use the remote mount boost sensor? << ??? I do have a little green LED which I mount on my boost gauge pod in the a-pillar to make sure the pump is being signalled properly, although this is certainly no proof that water is spraying..I realize this. >>pump is longer than 3.5 meters<< I dont know if its longer, but my guess is right around 3m or so. >>Even Aquamist recommends << Yea, but that doesnt stop you from running denatured, which is a big no no with them :--) >>I suspect that you are going to have issues with this. Think about it this way... would you feel safe running your 11psi pulley without water injection? << Kit, thats why I have an EGT gauge! >>below the level of the windshield washer tank<< From memory, its down as low as it can go on the driver side, which puts it about on a level or perhaps slightly lower than the washer tank. Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 22:47:21 -0500 From: "Paul Elliott" <elliott.paul@worldnet.att.net> Subject: Long term fuel trims >>Is this correct? << I dont believe so....What I think happens is that the short term fuel trim is indeed 'propogated' to the LTFT...But, the LTFT is also used to influence the Open Loop operation....It is applied to the Open Loop maps......I wish it werent so, but its true. This has been verified for me by Scanning Software maven, Shawn Fogg. >>With some testing, the Subaru WRX ECUs are showing adjustments to the long term trims in open loop operation! if the BMW does this, it's gonna make programming my UNICHIP replacement much harder. (no questions about this yet, please...)<< What you have found with the WRX is indeed what happens to our OBDII M3s as well. too bad, as far as Im concerned. #10. The end (was: big brake kits) - from Chester Wong
Top
Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 21:30:37 -0800 (PST) From: Chester Wong <chester_p_wong@yahoo.com> Subject: The end (was: big brake kits) You know, when I saw this last post after I thought the thread died, I knew it was time to shut the computer off and do something fun. But it got to me and I had to turn it back on and send off one last response to this. I guess if I wanted to, I could go retrieve the one e-mail that I send off that Mr. Tiggersman said I was out of line that started this whole thing. I don't recall being so far off base. Perhaps I didn't make absolutely clear that I was basing my opinions from driving Wayne's car. As I said before, when Wayne first got the brakes, I was very interested as it required absolutely no mods, just a straight bolt up. And I was disappointed after driving a car with big brakes that the pedal feel was off. In fact, that was probably the first car I've driven with big brakes. So I just sat on the sidelines driving around with stock brakes and PF90s on the track. But at the last driver school in October, I thought I lost my brakes a bit and upon swapping pads back to stockers, I did! Melted the boots, boiled the fluid. So now I was at a fork in the road: rebuild/reuse and perhaps go with ducting/etc or look into something different. To me, $300+ for backing plates is ludicrous. Replacing duct hoses, etc...no thanks. An opportunity came about to get front and rear brakes for a very good price and I jumped on it. Installed, bled, rebled...wow...this is great. ...I wonder why Wayne's car doesn't feel this good. Since Wayne is a good friend, I wanted to get his car just as good because that's what friends do, right? Bled and rebled his brakes...still not the "oh my gosh" feel. Ben was good enough to try the car out and even said that it didn't feel right. They rebled and things are even better. Great. When I found that out, I offered an apology to the list and to Ben and Rogue Engineering. So what's with all this bashing and stuff? Why was Chester pro-UUC and then against them? I dunno. Well, I know it came about for a reason, but as time goes, you start to forget. And I certainly wanted to forget about this whole brake discussion and how stupid it became. But then I received a pretty nasty e-mail from a list member who participated in a group purchase of euro mirrors that I ran a while back. I was reminded of my Chester stories and from that, it reminded me why I even joined this list. We're all a bunch of car guys/gals. That was why I even shared my stupid stories in the past in the first place....like an extended family of sorts that I considered friends. I remember Stephen Lafredo saying, "Dude, you do realize that people are reading those e-mails, right?" I said, "yah...what do I care? They're funny!" If you can't laugh at yourself, then, at least to me, you're taking yourself too seriously. All coming from a person who has an agenda? I have nothing to hide. So I was in my car utopia...washing, waxing, polishing...and then I heard people talking about short shifters. And remember when I first joined the list, I didn't even know how to drive a stick! I think I've gotten better at it now. And yah..me losing the brakes (see above) was probably my driving technique...over using the brakes, etc. I'll be the first to admit...I'm not the fastest guy out there on the track, but I'm learning...and I have much to learn. But that still didn't stop me from getting bitten by the upgrade bug. Short shifter? OOOhhh...I *NEED* one of those. Clutch stop? Hell yeah!...smoother driving! JimC software! Damn straight! I went along with advice that a lot of people suggested. BL/SS, shark software, etc. Were the products good, bad, worth it, not worth it? *shrug*...dunno...what do *you* think of it? And I guess that's what I'm learning now. At least for me, I wasn't satisfied when I couldn't shift into reverse or first, or the strut brace sat too high up (turns out that the person I sold the brace to has two dents in his hood now)...whatever. And that's perfectly fine. Not happy with it? You can do whatever you want. It was what happened behind the scenes that bugged me more than anything else. So to the lister who e-mailed me insulting me left and right, let me just say that you don't know what happened and unless you've walked in my shoes, you can't say anything. That's when it became my mission to "expose the truth". But you know, it's not worth it. Why should I have to save you from any grief or save you from spending your money? It's your money! But you know, it's all good. A few things made me realize the significance of things--grasping the bigger picture in life, if you will. I had a friend who died when I was 19. She was 19 too. Big shocker...and reminded me to cherish life. Years go by and you tend to forget. Sept 11th happened and my ex-girlfriend was on the 72nd floor of WTC 2. I could only imagine what she went through. You know what? It's only a car....a f*cken car. A piece of machinery with four wheels that in our case, handles well, and puts a smile on our faces. All this bullsh*t takes the fun out of the hobby, doesn't it? Not worth this crap at all. Quite frankly, I harbor no ill feelings towards Ben Liaw, Rob Levinson or anyone else for that matter. I didn't appreciate the way I was treated back then, but Rob, through Matt Malfa, once offered to put this all behind us. And you know, that's a pretty good idea. If certain business practices remain the same, well...don't tell me about it. Am I in business with Jim El Nabli? We're thinking about it, but we're too busy with our regular professional lives to do much about it. To anyone who has bought BMW parts from me, I hope I offered some added value and gave you a good price and I thank you for your business. We're not out there to gouge just trying to build up some R&D money. With all this said, you guys still want me on the list? It doesn't bother me one way or another. You guys lost respect for me? Hope not, but if you did, what can I say but, "sorry"? As for me, I'll be having fun with my M3 driving around on the track...April 19th, 20th at LRP...here we come! Best regards, Chester --- Jake Tiggersman <jtigole@yahoo.com> wrote: > I am not a mouth piece by any means...look at my mods. > Not a Rogue product to be had.
