#1. Stereo removal/install - from ChuckBrazeau@aol.com

Date: Fri, 05 Apr 2002 00:38:41 -0500 From: ChuckBrazeau@aol.com Subject: Stereo removal/install I'm flying to NY from TX to pick up my '95 M3 next Thursday, and i plan on taking with me and installing an in-dash CD player as soon as they hand me the keys (i.e. - install it in the parking lot of the dealership! :-P), for the 1400 mile/2 day journey home. I already have the CD player, antenna adapter, and i've already wired it up with the wiring harness adapter for the BMW (solder and heat shrink), but not sure what else i'll need as far as tools to remove the factory radio (the less tools i have to try to take on the plane with me, the better). I've installed a LOT of high end audio systems in several different cars and trucks in the past, but I've never done one in an M3, and i don't know anyone local that has an M3 or even a 3-series that i can look at, so any tips would be appreciated. (a friend of mine that used to have an M3 mentioned something about a small flap that conceals an allen head screw???) Thanks! ChuckBrazeau.com '95 M3/2 Violet/Black

I don't think he's contributed even a fraction of what Chester has contributed to the informational content of this list. From a purely emotional point of view, I would still rather that Jake go away. I never had much tolerance for 'yes' men. -Alan, who calls it like he see it _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? It did appear to me that Chester has "issues" with Ben which do not belong on this list. Chester apologized, now it's time to move on. No, I'm not convinced of that. I was asking if the ECU MODIFIED the long term gains. I *know* that the ECU READS the long term trims, what I don't know is if it MODIFIES the trims in open loop mode. Just FYI, reading those trims is a good thing. It definitely helps the ECU adapt to things not being exactly right or to adapt to production differences, tolerances, etc. -kit

Not only are the LTFT's being applied to Open Loop Operation (which makes perfect sense), but the LTFT's are actually being adjusted in Open Loop, which is a bit perplexing. AFAIK, the LTFT only gets adjusted in closed loop. It's unclear what inputs are used to adjust it in Open loop, given that there is no lambda control. This makes perfect sense with a wide-band O2 but I don't see it with a regular O2 meter. -Matt --- Paul Elliott <elliott.paul@worldnet.att.net> wrote: > > >>Is this correct? << > > I dont believe so....What I think happens is that > the short term fuel trim > is indeed 'propogated' to the LTFT...But, the LTFT > is also used to influence > the Open Loop operation....It is applied to the Open > Loop maps......I wish > it werent so, but its true. #10. Re: [E36M3] more horsepower? - from Matt Henson

Date: Fri, 5 Apr 2002 07:23:33 -0800 (PST) From: Matt Henson <hensonator@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] more horsepower? If those are the numbers that they are quoting then I _guarantee_ that they are wrong. It doesn't even meet the definition for HP.. A gain of 36 ft-lbs at 5200 RPM corresponds to a gain of 35.6HP at 5200 RPM. This falls out from the formula for Horsepower: HP=Torque*RPM/5252. Even aside from this it's pretty unlikely to get such a power increase from software alone (on these cars anyway). -Matt --- Mdriver13@aol.com wrote: > > Just got my latest copy of Bavarian Autosport.
