#1. LTFT - from Paul Elliott

In my M3 I only experience knock in the midrange. That's been the pattern on every car I've ever owned.<< On our cars with Centifugal Superchargers, we're always told to watch out for knock up high, because in our setups, our intake charge is hottest at highest compression, occurring near redline. I think in our setups, its the heat, combined with insufficent timing retard, up high in the rpm band, which is most likely to spur knock. In that regard, I think its quite different from NA cars. Had some very good suggestions from a few list members that I think will help out a lot. I will explain more about those later. As for starting an audiphile list, probably not. The thing to do would be to join an existing audi list and then complain because I don't like the way it is run :-) The S4 is actually going to replace my 325ix as a daily driver/year 'rounder type vehicle, so I still may buy another M3 if I find the right one. I'd suggest a search on bimmerforums for lots of lonnnnggg threads discussing the characteristics of the UUC kit, and some recent thoughts on the Rogue. In the end, all marketing hype aside, I think they are pretty similar in function. Get the less expensive kit and the WSR. Jeff

#5. lighting comparison - from Kit Wetzler

Date: Sun, 07 Apr 2002 15:42:14 -0700 From: Kit Wetzler <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> Subject: lighting comparison Hi Everyone, Here is a comparison of a bunch of different lighting solutions for the E36 M3. Pictures are undoctored, and all taken at the same shutterspeed, exposure, and white balance. It's pretty striking! http://www.geocities.com/kitwetzler/ Conclusions: * 6000K HID kits are good, if high quality. * 4300K HID kit in euro housing is also Very Good. * 4300K HID kit in US housing is good for driver, bad for others * H1 halogen in Euro housing puts out less light than HID in US housing, but is much friendlier to other drivers and you can see just as well * US housings suck. -kit

I vaguely remember kits from someone with incorrect length hoses, Goodridge maybe? Has that been sorted? Looking for some user feedback and a good source. Thanks, Mike Frank 97 M3
