#1. Interesting thing happened to my tires today - from Dorffer, Rich
Top
Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2002 12:42:46 -0400 From: "Dorffer, Rich" <RDORFFER@CleIndians.com> Subject: Interesting thing happened to my tires today I mentioned earlier about plugging your tires and Chester prompted me to follow-up on the differences. Upon further follow-up with a tire engineer I know, he informed me of the following regarding plugging tires and the difference between the simple external plugs and the plugs used internally on a dismounted tire: The problem with external plugs is 1) you can't tell if there is any tire damage inside, 2) the plug might seal on the outside but leak a little on the inside. This allows inflation pressure in between the plies and will cause a separation. The mushroom head bonds to the liner and seals properly. Hope this helps someone decide what may be best for their situation. Later, Rich
