If I had thought far enough ahead, I could have had them here for this weekend, but, as it is, I'll swap them in next week or so, after they get here from GC. Doing it for the very reason you mentioned. Thanks for the heads-up. That brings up another question. Does anyone know if the GC RSMs will work with both the Konis SA shocks and the DA shocks. I will have the SAs on the car as of Saturday, but it's likely that I may have DAs on the car within a month or 2 (a friend is moving up). Curious if they both work with the same bushing. However if you really like the E46M3 RSM and have shop access, you can press out the studs and press them in upside-down into the handy Z3 reinforcement brackets for a similar effect. haven't done that myself but I think Ron Stygar and Chester Wong (?) have, seems like a fine idea. One note on the GC RSMs - before you install them, remove the screws from the body, and put some red Loctite 262 or equivalent on the threads near the head. I had one back out while on the car, very inconvenient. andy r. 98 m3/2

The E46 RSM and The Stygar Z3 Re-enforcement plate does the trick also. Kim L Burgess - the usual disclaimer - no association with BMW or Ron Stygar

I'm not using these because I've got fresh S-02's on the M3 I recently purchased (wish they were S03's). About 3/16" tread left on outer tread blocks, about 1/4" tread depth in middle of tire (not sure, but new tread depth is probably around 5/16" or 3/8"?). E'mail me an offer & they're yours.

One C-clamp like plate with downward protruding screws goes into the trunk. Than the main plate bolts to the shocks and gets attached to the C-clamp from inside the wheel well. A very cool solution to the problem of removing the rear shocks without tearing apart the trunk liners (a PITA). alex f

Rob, I had a similar problem until someone on the list made the same recommendation to me about the hunter machine. It sounds like this shop is not using the machine correctly.. Because the shop that I went to was able to balance my wheels correctly... It took them 3 hrs to do it.. They actually rotated the tires on the rims to find the best balance.. Perhaps try another shop? The shop that I used also charged $40 to balance all 4 wheels.. Which area do you live in? Mo Look here for another shop. http://www.gsp9700.com/pub/search/Findgsp9700.cfm You can read all about Hunter products at: http://www.hunter.com/pub/product/product.htm -------------------- 2 -------------------- Date: Tue, 9 Apr 2002 13:45:43 -0700 From: "Robert S. Hatrak II" <hatrak@ix.netcom.com> Subject: Can anyone balance a tire correctly? So I got some new tires a couple of weeks ago. Since then I have been back to the same shop no less than three times trying to get the tires balanced correctly. The old tires were balanced perfectly, so I know the problem isn't the car or the wheels. The place is Discount Tire, and they charged me $60 to balance the tires the first time on their fancy Hunter gsp-9700 that everyone has raved about. It did the "road force" balance. That was the first try, and it caused my steering wheel to bounce all over the place. On the second two tries they used a normal Hunter machine, as they claim that tires need only be "road forced" once after being installed onto a rim. Is this correct? Each time they said the wheels were "slightly out" and made "the fix" that will "do it this time." ARGH!!! I'm about to find another shop and have them do it, at my cost. Is this really rocket science? Anyone have any tips or suggestions? Thanks for listening! Rob -------------------- 3 --------------------

Date: Thu, 11 Apr 2002 17:36:33 -0400 From: Rich Beebe <rich@beebecomm.com> Subject: Re: H&R springs and RSM question Alex, Thanks Alex. Have you, or anyone else on the list, used the Z3 'plates' with the GC RSMs? I had the GC RSMs on my ITS car, but I never tried to use the Z3 plates with them. I'm just wondering if the plates can go between the body and the 'C' clip for additional support. It doesn't seem like there should be any problems to me, as long as the studs are long enough. I'm not sure the 'C' clip of the GC mount was designed to help serve that exact purpose.
