Yours maybe! Mine were a bitch, my friend's 325i were easy. Seems to vary from car to car. Renting the tool is good advice. Unfortunately I did mine before they were on offer. Neil 96 M3

Nothing an impact hammer, a slide hammer, a die grinder, a sawzall (with several metal cutting blades) and about 6 wasted hours of life couldn't solve... :) -kit -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .

#3. [E36M3] shop recommendations in Chicago? - from Jeff_Wingstrom@jackmorton.com

I've previously used Midwest Motorsport up in Glenview with excellent results, but am hoping to find something closer to the city as it's hard to drop the car off and get back to work. I'm looking to have Inspection II items performed, minus the (easier) parts I'm going to do myself. TIA for any tips! -Jeff

Well, you don't need a shop to press them out and the studs are smaller than the hole in the Z3 plate. To press out the stud, get an appropriately sized socket and put it underneath and whack the other side with a hammer. You do, however, need someone who can tack weld the studs in place. Ron sells the plates...contact him if you're interested. Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! That's probably your permanent solution. I'm sure the good folks at Bimmerworld can clear this up for you. PS, you looked great out there at TWS at the E v. W Challenge! Jeff

I have put freon in other cars and my 10/94 95 M3 had R-134A put in at 65,500 miles (6/00). It has 88,000 on it now. It is obviously leaking (albeit slowly) and was not very cold last summer. Can a better AC system be installed if this one cannot be fixed easily? It was 83 degrees today and hot in the car. TIA. Gary Preece Louisville, KY PS - does it piss you guys off as much as me when you go to the dealer and tell them what year and model of BMW that you have they ALWAYS ask "3.0 or 3.2 ltr." and "2 or 4 door"? aarrh!!

#10. Musical Clutch? - from Michael Schaublin

Date: Thu, 11 Apr 2002 20:59:10 -0400 From: "Michael Schaublin" <mike_schaublin@hotmail.com> Subject: Musical Clutch? Driving home today, I rolled the windows down and kept hearing a metallic ringing sound. After a while, I realized _my_ car was making the noise. I could only hear it with the windows open and something to reflect the sound back to me, like a concrete divider or another vehicle. I occurs when in gear and moving 40 mph or better. If I stepped on the clutch or put the car into neutral, the sound went away. I don't know how long it has been making this noise, as this was the first day of the year of windows down driving. Otherwise, engine and clutch operation seem normal. Car is a 94 325 with 106K. Any thoughts?
