You suit should come with instructions. I can only speak for Sparco's and the can be gently machined washed unless you have one with the "shiny grey" color on it (Prima Top, or Tech 2) and then it's dry clean only. Even among Sparco suits there is a big difference in weight and warmth from say a Sparco2 to a Prima Top. One big thing that I'd be looking at besides weight and warmth, is the stretch gussets that the nicer suits have. It makes them much more comfortable to wear. Jeremy Lucas Prima Top Sparco

It has a 45 degree angle built into the 6" line and was wondering if anyone sold lines with a 45 degree angle. I don't want to crimp the fuel flow by putting in a straight hose. Napa? Shel 98 M3

I'm backed up on the digest, but if this hasn't been clarified, here's the rub: The SAs and DAs have different sized shafts and hardware. The SA is the same size as stock, the DAs larger. What Rich is asking is whether the bushing is large enough to accept DA shaft. As I remember from swapping SAs to DAs on a couple cars, you have to either drill out the bushing, or remove a metal sleeve. I've done so many I can't keep straight which bushing required what procedure. -- Ron Katona

Again, I'm not caught up, so sorry if this has been asked and answered, but I don't think it's silly at all. When you see a failed rear shock tower and recognize the failure mode you'll want to do anything, even if it seems like overkill, to shore up that area. I think the GC mounts and the Z3 rings compliment each other nicely. -- Ron Katona '95 M3 - one repaired rear shock tower

If a person is driving the same car that they race in (or any car for that matter really) and owns a fire resistant driving suit why the heck not wear it. I mean, is there a law that cars don't crash or go on fire at driving schools? That said the only times I have worn mine were really hot days when I would wear cotton shorts and t-shirt and put on the suit for my sessions and teaching and then take it off ASAP when I got out of the car and be comfy in my shorts and t. I feel guilty and stupid having it in the bag in my car and not wearing it because it's inconvenient. I do wear my HANS in any car with 5 or 6 points a cage or solid roll bar though... yes, even at driver's schools. Now that I have thought on this I think I will be wearing the suit more often if not all the time on the track. I better buy stock in Gatorade because man is even a high quality suit hot. :) Cheers, Dave Spragg 92 318is/M3 frankencar called Das Beast, #330 I Prepared 99 M3 Garage Queen -----Original Message----- From: Michael [mailto:95m3ltw@charter.net] Sent: Friday, April 12, 2002 5:18 PM To: E36M3 Subject: Re: [E36M3] Driving suits Date: Fri, 12 Apr 2002 17:09:43 -0400 From: "Michael" <95m3ltw@charter.net> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Driving suits Jeff, it is all about looking cool. Ever notice the idiots that wear driver suits to a driver school? it is almost always the top of the line suit like a Stand 21 or Sparco. Hahha, actually, the big difference is in comfort and looks, of course. I have a cheaper suit that feels like 8 layers of thermal underwear compared to a comfy sparco. Pros of a expensive suit Usually a better fit or the ability to have it custom fitted for comfort Light compared to the thicker cheaper suits Looks better. Would you rather be seen in a well fitted suit or a suit that looked like it was made for someone 30lbs bigger than you etc. Dont know about the fire protection, I think you would need to just compare ratings and see if the manufactor did any testing to say if they offer longer fire protection. Cons Cost more, lol with a cheaper suit, you are not quite as worried about the grease stain on the knee or the grass marks on your ass when you crawl out of the flipped car as you would be with a $800 suit, lol. My advice to a rookie or beginner, is to buy two suits. Check your budget, buy the best you can afford(that applies to everything in life) and remember, you probably will be replacing the suit after 2-4 years anyway. seems I was really tough on my suit during my rookie year racing.
