Looking for the optimal tire sizes for a set of street tires and a set of track tires. I know, stock fitment is 235/40-17. But what's the best to run, track and street? I'm completly open to rolling my fenders, but don't see how it would be an issue with this size wheel... Also, if you have any recommendations for specific tires... Thanks! Yes, I feel the same way, something is wrong with my car (perhaps the driver ;) too). Vanos was replaced 10-20K ago (have it written down somewhere...) Plugs around the same time O2 sensor at the same time (don't ask...in the attempt to hunt down a slight stumble at idle...) Still stumbles slightly. (feels like a little tremor in your seat from time to time at idle) Don Fields @ Autosport adjusted the Cams with some weird 5mm drill bit indexing under the jig. (Supposedly BMW had a service bulletin about doing this on cars with rough idles) So back to the 95 vs 99... On a suggestion, we tried another run (traffic rarely permits anything up here in the MA area...) 3rd gear, 60mph up. Ugly start but the cars were pretty even...not a clean run, but a little better. 99 is definately NOT chipped rev limiter at 6800rpm. I need to get my car checked out by someone familiar with the mods I have. Anyone have suggestions in the MA area (I live in Waltham Area)? Next time I'm back in NJ I'll take down the M3 and compare with other people's 95s and 99s.... Hmm...what's the symptoms of the coils going bad? Thanks for the input! I'll check the plugs again. --- Mike Tse 95 M3 UUC/SS - M20 Flywheel/E30M3 Clutch BMWCCA MA Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2002 17:58:57 -0400 From: Ron Katona <rkatona@bellatlantic.net> Subject: Modded 95 M3 vs Stock 99 M3 ?? Mike Tse wrote: >I always assumed a 95 with the Euro Conforti HFM system would be putting >out >more power than a stock 99 (chipped w/o intake or not). Yeah, I think there's something wrong with the '95. I could see a stock '99 pulling a stock '95 just from tolerances from car to car, but any decent running '95 with the above setup will run about 265 hp. That should be enough to pull any stock '99 in any gear. If the '99 is chipped it could be close, but the '95 shouldn't be getting dusted. >95M3 makes power (more than 99, who knows??) after 4k. >(95 feels like it bogs below 3500 RPM but it's always felt this way.) Hmmm... VANOS may be suspect on the '95 from those two statements. Don't overlook the easy things first though - changed plugs and O2 sensor lately? -- Ron Katona _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

#5. Insp2 items: coolant change and fuel filter replacement - from Don Chaney

Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2002 19:50:11 -0500 From: "Don Chaney" <chaneydon@hotmail.com> Subject: Insp2 items: coolant change and fuel filter replacement I have finished my inspection II with the exception of the above. A few questions: -How messy is the coolant change? Will I trash my garage or no big deal? -I am planning on changing the thermostat housing to metal at the same time. Take off the fan and replace the housing? Anything to worry about? -Change belts at the same time? They have about 25k miles on them, how long do they usually last? -Fuel filter. I have an early production 95 (8/94) with the old filter location. I've heard its a bear. Any suggestions? Where is it? Don 95M3, 67k miles. ~18 track days so far, w/ more to come.

#6. Questions on installation of BMW MRoadster/MCoupe Foglight Kit - from Osbcso@aol.com
Top
Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2002 21:07:04 EDT From: Osbcso@aol.com Subject: Questions on installation of BMW MRoadster/MCoupe Foglight Kit I had the #63 17 0 008 734 kit installed on my 2000 MRoadster, Prod 11/1999. Everything works fine except the instrument pod foglight pictogram doesn't work. The instructions say nothing about it. I had my current neighborhood dealer take a look at it. They pulled the pod, saw there was no bulb in the foglight pictogram socket, and put in a bulb. Still no operation. They said they could get it to work after 3 hours of labor.......the same amount that I paid another dealer to have the whole kit installed. Tried the BMW NA customer service line to try and get an answer from BMW NA's "Product and Service Engineering Dept." But no go. No one is allowed to talk to these folks. BMW is such a customer friendly company!!!! So.....my last resort is to get the installing dealer service manager 50 miles away from me, to call into the Tech Support hotline to get an answer. I would like the pictogram to work and I would have thought that a BMW designed kit would have thought of that issue. I think that the installation should have also gotten this part of the system to work also. Any body out there have this kit installed on their 2000 MRoadster or MCoupe? Does your foglight pictogram work?? Anybody out there know of an Z3/MRoadster/MCoupe digest that I can float this question to? Thanks...Chris Osborne Ashburn, VA BMWCCA #92573
