If not, you may have one locally. They also test speedos for accuracy for a small fee. I had my last couple of cars tested. The speedo in my E36 325is (with 235/40X17 on 7.5" M-contours - for comparison) was only off 1mph from about 30mph and up. >-------------------- 5 -------------------- >Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2002 13:51:27 -0700 (PDT) >From: Chris Huff <huffgroup@yahoo.com> >Subject: recalibrate speedometer? > >I read in a recent car and driver that bmw speedometers read high in order >to comply with some >German law about never being too slow. Looking to do just a simple mod to car since I got close to 4 years left on my warranty (2 original / 2 CPO). So I just want to chip my 99M3 for now. Is the Conforti chip worth it? Thanks...

Other three came off relatively easily. In danger of stripping. Any suggestions other than penetrating oil (soaking as I type)? Thanks, Mike Frank 97 M3

#8. E36 Warranty question - from Allen Hyman
Top
Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2002 08:27:21 -0400 From: Allen Hyman <allen.hyman@motorola.com> Subject: E36 Warranty question I have a 99 M3 and the warranty will expire at the end of June. I would like to get the Inspection 2 done under warranty but I have 2 green lights still showing on the dash. Will BMW do the inspection 2 with 1-2 green lights still on? Do I have any other options rather than paying out of pocket for the inspection? Thanks, Al

#9. Lower Rear Shock Mount Issues - from JUSTIN GERRY
Top
Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2002 09:52:37 -0400 From: "JUSTIN GERRY" <JGERRY@butchers.com> Subject: Lower Rear Shock Mount Issues Just curious if anyone has experienced any problem with the LOWER shock mount (I have Bilsteins if that makes any difference). As an FYI, the upper mounts are JTD with the race bushings. The upper mount does appear to be securly attached and I don't hear any abnormal clunking in the rear end (usual sign of blown UPPER mounts). The lower shock mount has a rubber bushing with a metal spacer/piece in center (that actually touches the bolt that mounts the shock). Well the rubber bushing has moved and it is almost completely covering the mounting bolt of the shock. The metal spacer is almost completely exposed. I worry that the shock might blow off of its rubber mount. A friend of mine and I discussed the possbility that there is some excessive trailing arm movement that might cause this problem. I figure it has to be (in order of most likely to least likely). 1) Trailing arm bushing allowing excessive movement (I have 68xxx miles on the car with stock bushings and many track days). 2) Some sort of ball joint issue. 3) Bushing failure on the shock itself. 4) Something strange with the upper shock mount. Thanks, Justin
