I have to disappoint you about your upgrade. You have actually DOWNgraded your brake pads. Unlike stock pads, MMs stink and fade after two decent stops. Not to mention that they will start squealing after a few thousand miles. I have them on my wife's E36 and they only good thing I can say about them is that they are cheap and I don't have to wash her wheels much. > Just wanted to get some feedback as to a good high-performance pad > that will cut down on the dust. They don't exist. I've tried all three "dust less" pads: PBR Deluxe's, MMs and Hawk HPS pads. They dust the wheels in a silverish/metallic rust hues that are less noticeable than stock black brake pad dust. They all fade (in the order from worst to almost autocrossable) and none of them are suitable for the track. > I will be doing a driving school this summer as well as a few autox. > Should I stay with the Metal Masters If you want to get pass the 2nd turn, than either go back to stock pads or a dedicated track pad. Either one will dust like crazy, but the stock pads will not squeal as much. However, they will fade much faster than track pads. Or you could buy into the marketing hype and get an all purpose pad that will dust and squeal everywhere and still fade on track. It's your money. alex f '95 M3 - Hawk Blues for the track, HPS for the street (S is for the Street).

The Greens are awesome on the street and the C-tech's are insane on the track. Unfortunately you cannot run the C-Tech's on the street (well I do occasionally) because they are VERY loud. It takes all of 15 minutes to swap pads so I don't mind it. For good all around consider Porterfield R4S'. Most street pads won't last on the track and the Metal Munchers really aren't happy there. I am a once a year open track junkie, twice a month autocrosser and I am very happy with just one set, the Porterfield "R4s" pads. They are much less dusty on the wheels and seem to stop the car as good as OEM pads. The serious trackers seem to prefer the PF 97 from Performance Friction for race track. Both kinds are available from Porterfield at a discount by mentioning Suzy's E36M3 list. They aren't as bad as others have indicated. They have more bite than stock pads and give a good feel. They do still dust and are way too loud for me. They didn't fade on the track for me (or my instructer) on a 110 degree Texas day at Texas World Speedway. I've heard reports (on this list) of the MM's falling apart when overheated. Overall, I think that you'll likely be happiest with the stock pads. You can get them at bimmerparts.com for a reasonable price. If you get serious at the track then you should get a set of PF90s or some other non-street pad. -Matt --- Doug Wirth <DWirth@serena.com> wrote: > dust.
