#1. Water pump belt - from Luis Rueda

Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 12:45:29 -0400 From: "Luis Rueda" <Luis_Rueda@Interliant.com> Subject: Water pump belt I replaced the water pump this past saturday (67k miles w/no signs of cracking or fatigue on 11/'95 M3) w/a metal impeller one as well as the t-stat housing (aluminum now) & T-stat (70 degrees instead of 90). The battery light on the dashboard is flickering and the power steering pump is sliping since the belt is loose after I put everything back together. To solve this, do I just adjust the tensioner w/the 8mm torque wrench? TIA, Luis '99 MCoupe '95 M3 '86 325

I ran 36 front and 34 rear this past weekend and the car felt great, even on my limited camber. :-) Thanks! -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com 1996 BMW M3, SCCA SFR Solo II Street-Mod/BSP #173

Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 13:30:57 EDT From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: GP on Brembo cross-drilled or slotted rotors To all, I just got Suzy's blessing to post a potential GP on Brembo c/d rotors. If you are interested drop me an email. The shop is Auto Addictions in Allentown, PA. They just became a distributor for Brembo. If you go to the Brembo site, you will see them listed. As of today, they are still waiting on Brembo to send all the necessary stuff to get pricing to me, but they have a willingness to deal, depending on numbers. Hope to hear from a few out there. Mel you're already on the list. Want to move on this within two weeks from today. Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA AS Champion 1997 & 2000 BSP Champion 2001

Much thanks to Jay Morris for this info. It's really not easy to figure this out, and I had actually considered as a winter project assembling a strut with no springs, then using a digital inclinometer to measure camber vs. travel while jacking the front hub. First step is to get rid of any "all season" tires you may be using. Although I have heard of driving on wet roads, it is not a phenomenon we deal with here in the south bay <VBG>. The local BMW chapter is very active with lot's of driving schools and auto-xs. Additionally, there is tons of non-CCA track stuff going on around here. With 4 tracks in our backyard (thunderhill, sears point, laguna seca, buttonwillow) there are track events/driving schools available almost every weekend. Even at the non-CCA events the local M3 contingent is usually well represented. Given the M3 population and the number of listers here in the south bay we probably aren't as socially active as we could be. Sounds like a good opportunity for someone to step in and coordinate activities<hint> <hint>. Anyway, welcome to the neighborhood. Let me know when you move down, we can grab a beer and I'll tell you where the fun roads are. jeff > Date: Sat, 27 Apr 2002 22:41:26 -0700 > From: Reid Conti <reid@conti.net> > Subject: BMW CCA Golden Gate Chapter/South Bay > > I'm moving from Seattle to Santa Clara in the fall.. I may be wrong, but it seems like a sure fire way to increase emissions, decrease engine life, increase fuel consumption. .. . Jeff stock Tstat

I will try to get a GP price for as few as five people, and a price based on 10 of us. I know the price will certainly be lower than brembo's website price of $269 for the Sport rotors. They only sell front rotors as far as I can tell, drilled or slotted. If you're interested in the Grand Turismo sets ($2,000 and up), let me know that too. Maybe you installed the belt incorrectly, leaving too much slack? #10. Extended Warranty - from Wayne Miller
Top
Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 21:05:30 -0400 From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> Subject: Extended Warranty In the beginning of September of last year, Chester and I started looking at a group-purchase of extended warranties from Warranty Gold ( www.warrantygold.com ). At the time, they were offering about $1,550 or so for a 5 year/100,000 mile "Diamond" warranty that you could pay for over 12 months with no interest. After September 11th, I basically forgot about the whole idea but now my car is approaching 48,000 miles and their limit to purchase one is 50,000 miles so I am ready to proceed. I will call them tomorrow to see what kind of deal that I can work out but if anyone is interested, please let me know soon. I have no relationship with them or any other warranty company and I know that some people think that extended warranties are a waste of money but I saved at least $10,000 on my Subaru SVX with one, a few thousand on an Oldsmobile Aurora but I lost money on the extended warranty on an Acura NSX. Please respond to me directly if interested so as not to fill the list with "I'm in" E-mails. When it comes time to make the order, I will post whatever details are worked out. -Wayne
