This is for a driver school right? Sure you are not looking at Club Racing rules? Second, I doubt that they would "require" the 5/6 pt belts without requiring a rollbar. Harnesses without a rollbar/rollcage is a BAD idea. Best answer is to contact the Patroon chapter and get an answer from the source. Finally, I have heard the story about the double impact a few times (as it was supposed to happen at Watkins Glen) and I have yet to meet the instructor. I think I know almost all of them and I haven't found him/her yet. Talk to Joe Marko at HMS, he is in the loop on all Schroth matters. #9. Schroth harnesses vs. DOT seat belts - from Mount, Mike
Top
Date: Fri, 3 May 2002 08:15:58 -0700 From: "Mount, Mike" <JMMn@pge.com> Subject: Schroth harnesses vs. DOT seat belts Noticed the thread about a CCA chapter requiring factory (DOT legal) seatbelts or 5/6 pt harnesses. The implication was that somehow the Schroth harnesses are unsafe. In my personal opinion and experience, the DOT belts do not provide protection in a side impact. When I went into a wall last year, I was quite happy to have been wearing the Scroths and not the seatbelts. I know for a fact that the guy in the right seat (impact side) was happy to have been wearing them as he said so. Neither of us were injured, but my car left for the body shop on a flatbed. Just my opinion, but it is backed by experience. Mike

Nope. We are seeing some really interesting effects of efficiency. There is no reason that the Comptech and the GruppeM superchargers can't make more power than the centrifical, there is nothing magic. They are just that much less efficienct than the Basch boost blower. This is definitely my fear with a PD blower on the M3... less top end and more low end torque.. ok for the grandpas on the list, but for those of us who like our cars to rev to redline, this ain't so good. :) The NSX head breathes MUCH better than ours too. -kit

My S52 is begging for a solid lifter conversion, with a decked head, dished pistons, titanium valve springs and a 9000 rpm redline. ;) The s2000 got cut loose for blowing up an $11,000 transmission in the first 18K miles of life... -kit 97 m3/4 dinan supercharger -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ .

The other 3 work great. They come with used 245/40/17 Hoosiers -- the 4th is dismounted. I'm selling the 3 for $400 each (with tires; retail $589 on Turner's site) and will throw in the 4th for $50 ($1250 total). These were run on my E36 M3 racecar without flared fenders with a spacer up front. They are located in San Mateo, CA. http://www.gelatinous.com/scott/pics/forsale/forgeline.html Scott

#14. [E36M3] AC Charge procedure wanted - from RogRacer@aol.com
Top
Date: Fri, 3 May 2002 17:34:04 EDT From: RogRacer@aol.com Subject: [E36M3] AC Charge procedure wanted The AC in my '95 M3 is a little weak. After 7.5 years without a charge, I don't think it's a big deal, and it's just a little low on R134a. I'd like to charge it up myself, and I don't mind buying a gauge set to do it. The problem is, the Bently manual doesn't cover it, I can't find any web-based instructions, and the system *technically* should be charged by total weight (not pressure). OK...so the correct procedure most likely is to evacuate all the freon, check for leaks and so on, and recharge with a spec weight of R134a. Still, I don't believe 80% of the "Joe's AC shops" do it this way. They just go by pressure readings (perhaps corrected based on ambient temperature). So, the question is: can anyone fill me in on good charge procedure...required pressures and so on? Has anyone posted a workable procedure? Thanks in advance, Roger RogRacer@aol.com '95 M3.....95+ degrees in Orlando today! Why am I thinking about AC??
