Anybody coming close to replacing their Hawk HPS pads for the Rogue Application? If you do, please email me privately. Pros/Cons >and why you are not >happy with the HPS. Rob, Ok, here are my thoughts about this kit. When I was on the track with my stock calipers and metalMaster pads, I experienced brake fade. I didn't know much about brakes, and all I heard about these "Big Brake" kits was that brake fade was taken away with them. I purchased the VERY affordable Rogue brake kit and put on the Hawk HPS pads (they come with the kit). I took the car to Laguna Seca and right off the bat...Brake Fade. I was PISSED! I then drove in an instructors car who was on stock calipers but HAWK Blue pads and my god did that thing stop on a dime. He also had brake cooling ducts...so that helps big time. I told him I have the Rogue kit with HPS pads and he told me that it was the pad...not the kit. I will tell you this, the Rogue kit uses extremely large pads and is VERY rotor friendly. I still think the rotor (after 2 track schools and countless miles on the street) is in new condition. Since the pad is so large, the wear time is extended on ALL the parts and I like that. However, I know that the HPS pad is fine for the street, but on the track, this is a NO-NO. It will work fine if you extend your braking time out another second or two, but in hard braking conditions, I was not feeling that safe. I wondered if they were ever going to bite. The rogue kit goes on painlessly, looks awesome, and works very well. The brake pedal seemed a bit squishy at first, but I have heard that if you bleed them in the way that Rogue suggests, it is back to normal. But if you are looking for performance, I am going to suggest a different pad than the HPS. This caliper is not standard by any means, so finding pads (so far...looking for 2 days) hasn't been that fun. But Carbotech said they would put pretty much any compound I wanted on the pad if I could provide the backing plates. I hope this helped in your decision. ______________________________________________________________ Get Your Free E-mail at http://www.prontomail.com

Aren't MetalMasters junk and people have said not to use on them on the track? You would have probably gotten better braking performance with your stockers if you used the OE Jurids! If you went with PF97s, braking performance would have definitely been very good. > The rogue kit goes on painlessly, looks awesome, and works > very well. Apparently the backing plates have the same profile. Wayne got 2 out of the last 3 sets of PF90s available from Performance Friction, but I'm not sure about other vendors. You might try to ask the 8 series folks for used backing plates. HTH, Chester ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! First and most important: do not turn on the ignition while the seats are out of the car. This sets the SRS warning light, and you'd have to get your dealer to reset it. Your car is recent enough that it should have the electrically fired seatbelt pre-tensioner, and this requires no special precautions. (The previous cable-operated system, which my car has, could be accidentally triggered while handling the seat.) You will also need to clip the tie-wraps holding various wires under the seat, and unplug their connectors. Neil 96 M3

It's a much cleaner, neater design than the goofy M coupe wheel. I don't think that airbag meets US regulations, but oh well... ChipM http://mitglied.lycos.de/m3gt/m3images2/m3_gt_new_2.jpg

I'd like to reiterate a distinction previously reported here, may or may not apply. OEM parts are parts manufactured by someone who manufactures other parts or similar parts to the parts-in-question for perhaps *another* model within the line (marque). OE parts are parts manufactured by someone who manufactures the parts-in-question for *the* model within the line (marque). KLBurgess

#10. Smoked Lights from BravAuto (was Clear Lights) - from ChuckBrazeau@aol.com

Date: Wed, 08 May 2002 15:43:53 -0400 From: ChuckBrazeau@aol.com Subject: Smoked Lights from BravAuto (was Clear Lights) I just installed my smoked lenses (all 6) from Bavarian Autosport this week, and i'm really happy with them. The quality is great, the fronts went in snuggly (no sign of coming loose and popping out), and no "brake light circuit failure" messages since installing them a few days ago with all new bulbs (the bulb sockets were all a very tight fit). Plus i think the smoked lenses look awesome on a dark colored car (the side markers practically disappear)! :-D They can be seen on the car here (top three pics): http://www.brazeauracing.com/photos.htm IMHO, i'd have to say: "two thumbs up!" ;-) ChuckBrazeau.com '95 ///M3 Daytonaviolett http://www.brazeauracing.com/ -----Original Message----- Date: Wed, 08 May 2002 09:41:08 -0700 From: Jeff Stowe <jrstowe@pacbell.net> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Clear Lights Paul, As jason mentioned, I get a "brake light circuit failure" message now and then on mine. I think its due to the less precise manufacturing of the sockets. They are definitely more loose than the factory lights. If I hit a good bump (my car is fairly stiff) I'll get the code. It goes away after the next restart. I've only checked once or twice but even when the error has been indicated the brake lights are still functioning. I bought mine from bekkers. They are supposedly OEM but they are definitely not OE. The quality of the fronts and rears is noticebly less than stock and without handy dandy silicone (and racing tape) my front clear lenses would be spread all over the track. I've come in from track sessions more than once with them hanging from the racing tape (now they are siliconed in and do not budge). YMMV jeff 98 M3/4
