Date: Mon, 13 May 2002 13:23:24 -0700 From: "andy radin" <fourfa@mindspring.com> Subject: alarm power supply How much power does an alarm draw at fill tilt? I'm installing one that insists on a 20A fuse powered straight from the battery, as well as a 3A secondary power. The factory harness has power, fused at 15A. Would that not be sufficient? If not, anyone have a clever way to tap into heavier power in the passenger footwell area? I haven't yet explored much in the wiring harnesses behind the glovebox yet. Thanks, andy r.

#2. Question for '95 M3 Owners with LTW Strut Brace - from Dorffer, Rich

I know of a place here that sells virtually every sort of > fastener you could think of, in various metals and finishes. I have my doubts. The conical nuts on a E36 M3 LTW bar are very unique. I believe JTD had their version of these conical nuts they sold which was the only alternative I have ever seen. I don't even know if they are available currently for that matter. Please prove me wrong, Rich

Date: Mon, 13 May 2002 13:48:47 -0700 From: Scott Chan <s_chan@pacbell.net> Subject: Need '95 M3 head gasket with cutting rings It appears my race car has fallen victim to the dreaded '95 M3 weak head gasket disease which has swept through the entire West Coast CR field. Does anybody have a source for the super-duty head gasket with cutting rings? BMP is out of stock for a while. Thanks -- Scott Chan

Date: Mon, 13 May 2002 13:54:09 -0700 From: Steve Walsh <stevewalsh@earthlink.net> Subject: Re:Suspension tuning questions Joe, Firstly, have you had a *good* wheel alignment done recently. If, so, what were the specs.? If not, then get one. Next, because you have coilovers, do yourself a BIG favor, and get the car corner weighted. That way you can have the ride height set to you liking, AND get the weight distribution equalized (as best as can be done on a street car). Next, to dial out understeer we can start with 2 well known paths for the E36. Path 1 : bigger swaybars. Path 2 : stiffer springs/shocks. Path 1 is cheaper, and on a street car, the ride compromise is smaller. The downside is that you *will* need to reinforce the swaybar mounts/tabs. Path 2 gives way more options but is much more expensive to do right. You could just try stiffer springs to increase the roll stiffness at the front, but I suspect you will be outside the 'useful' range of the shox (unless you have 300lb+ springs and double adjustables on already)

#5. LTW strut bar nuts - from RFKoby@aol.com

Date: Mon, 13 May 2002 16:54:03 EDT From: RFKoby@aol.com Subject: LTW strut bar nuts Hello group, Yes, it is true, these $16? nuts look like they are black oxide coated, but they RUST!!!!! These are special SHOULDER NUTS that cannot be found anywhere else. I have a strut bar mounted on my car and have fabricated the SHOULDER NUTS out of 304 stainless steel myself. These have the special geometry to center the studs and clamp the strut bar properly. I posted to the group several years ago to have 150 (only 50 sets) of these nuts made on a screw machine.... But there was no interest from the group..... so I let it die..... at least buy one nut from BMW, and copy it with an open end, and make it out of 304 stainless steel..... (use 5/8 hex bar stock...) bob

Have you ever watched the movie "Speed" with Sandra Bulluck driving the bus? Sounds like you may have the same problem. I suspect a loose connection between the speed sensor and the dynamite :) Date: Sat, 11 May 2002 15:54:07 -0700 From: Reid Conti <reid@conti.net> Subject: Timing Chain Tensioner noise? For as long as I've had my 95 M3 (60k miles) (about 1 year), I've noticed a deceleration noise coming from the car. It's most prominent with the windows down, and you go to decelerate, downshift, I hear it most from 3000rpm down to about 2000rpm. It's a distinctive metallic sound. At first I thought it was a heat shield rattle on the exhaust somewhere. It ONLY happens off throttle.. if you tap the gas as it's happening, the noise goes away. <snip>

Since you have c/o's, you can use GC or TC Kline's camber plates. -Bobby ----- Original Message ----- > > Joe, > > Firstly, have you had a *good* wheel alignment done recently. > If, so, what were the specs.? Date: Mon, 13 May 2002 17:11:27 -0500 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: TC Kline Streetline Kit Listers- Since I'm replacing CA's, and bushings, I'm planning on ordering the TC Kline Streetline set for my 11/95 build M3 and doing the whole shebang at the same time. My reasoning being that I'll only have to get one alignment afterwards. Aside from updating the RSM's, were there any installation or fittment issues that anyone has had with this set? I understand the reports of performance are quite favorable, so I'm looking for any potential snags along the way. Thanks, Steve

Date: Mon, 13 May 2002 21:50:07 EDT From: KLchmn@aol.com Subject: Trunk will not open! Gruppe, After a nice weekend at the Sin City Chapter driving school, my M3 trunk now won't open! From the sound of things, the central locking mechanism is working. Looks like something mechanical has failed. Of course, getting through the roll cage, etc. into the trunk is going to be a challenge so I wonder if there is an easier way? Thanks for your help. Kirk Lachman Sin City Chapter '95 M3 #21 I-stock

#10. Aluminum Flywheel - from Chris Teague

Date: Mon, 13 May 2002 19:54:02 -0700 From: "Chris Teague" <cteague@cox.net> Subject: Aluminum Flywheel My clutch is starting to slip a little on my 97 M3/4, so I thought I would just upgrade to an aluminum flywheel and new clutch/pressure plate all at the same time. I see that Rogue Engineering has a new CF clutch disk and flywheel that is supposed to stop the idle rattle. And I have heard that with the shark injector raising the idle speed, the chatter may not be a big deal. Any recommendations on an aluminum flywheel? Any recommendations on a place to install this in Orange County CA? (Bullet, Evosport, German Car Garage?) Thanks, Chris 97 M3/4
