I had no problems installing them in a 97 M3 sedan and they fit the strut hats just fine. I know that there are different Eibach part numbers for the the 95 vs 96+, but I'm not sure if the difference is spring rate and size. Installing the SA Konis on the the front was another story.... #3. E36 M3 warped head... - from Scott Chan

Date: Wed, 15 May 2002 09:29:50 -0700 From: Scott Chan <s_chan@pacbell.net> Subject: E36 M3 warped head... After this weekend's Thunderhill Follies... Okay, we've pulled the head and it appears to be about .009" (0.23mm) warped measured with my carpenter's straightedge and feeler gauge. Is this salvageable? I know the BMW book says not to cut the head, but... The super-duty head gasket is available in an extra thick (2.0mm vs. 1.8mm) version, except they're out of stock... -- Scott

I know for a fact that 245 BFG KD's will rub the strut housing with stock 8.5" wheels, stock alignment, and stock suspension up front. I've been using 10mm spacers and hub extenders for several years to alleviate this problem with different brands of tire. I would think that you would have the same issue with a different than stock suspension as well. BFG KDs, for example, will not as the shoulder of the tire is very square. Michelin Pilot Sports will fit. Assuming it hasn't been milled before, you can mill it up to .012". In addition, BMW offers two head gaskets, the original one at 1.75mm thick, and a thicker one at 2.05mm to compensate for the head being milled (similar to your super-duty gasket). BTW, what BMW book says not to cut the head?? I apologize if this has already been brought up and shot down - if so, flame away <g> There is another preventative measure that can and should be taken to prevent swaybar mount/bracket failure - keep the bushings well lubricated. Twice a year I take my sways off and clean and relube the bushings with high-quality anti-seize. I am running 500#F/400#R springs and Eibach sways and using the stock, un-reinforced mounts. I have 27,000 street miles, 30 track days and 32 autocrosses on the setup and so far I have had no problems whatsoever. Just another suggestion. Of course, I'm sure I've just jinxed myself - all four swaybar mounts will probably break on the way home from the airport tomorrow night... Do you need to reinforce both front and back? Thanks, Mike
