I believe the only thing that I need to worry about is radiator overflow, but I do not see any overflow lines from the radiator. I only see the one that leads back to the overflow tank. What am I missing? Geof

Easy to replace as soon as the weight affects the handling. :) Donna On 5/17/02 12:09 PM, "Geof McLaughlin" <gfmiiilist@attbi.com> wrote: > Date: Fri, 17 May 2002 14:58:25 -0400 > From: Geof McLaughlin <gfmiiilist@attbi.com> > Subject: Need Help Installing Overflow Catch Can > > I need to install an overflow catch can in my 95 M3, for BMWCCA Club Racing > but am embarrassed to admit that I have no idea how to do so. > > I believe the only thing that I need to worry about is radiator overflow, > but I do not see any overflow lines from the radiator. I know it is necessary on E30's. Although, if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will point it out <g>. Jim Bassett

#6. Spark plug questions ...semi-long - from Michael Kelley
Top
Date: Fri, 17 May 2002 19:18:31 -0700 From: "Michael Kelley" <mkelley@nc.rr.com> Subject: Spark plug questions ...semi-long Hopefully this hasn't been covered before, I've searched the archives and can't find a firm hit to my questions. I've been poking around in the TIS (3/2001 CD) and have just looked closely at S.I.12 01 99000 dated December, 1999 and updated November, 2000, subject: "High Performance Platinum Spark Plug / Spark Plug Application Chart" This is the S.I. that introduced the NGK 100,000 mile "High Power, Longlife. or Quad Electrode Platinum Spark Plugs" on 1999 and later model year M44, M52TU, M54, M62TU, M73TU and S62 engines. Specifically, the plug is an NGK BKR6EQUP, BMW pn# 12 12 9 071 003. Question #1 - I can find BKR6EQUP on the NGK site using a 1999 328i , and the 95 M3 reference is still BKR6EK, the same as referenced by BMW as the alternative to Bosch (F7LDCR.....which no one on the list seems to prefer). Anyone tried the "Longlife" BKR6EQUP in a 95 M3? On a 96-99 M3? Question#2 - In the "Application Chart" of the S.I, the M3 (E46) S54 uses an NGK DCPR8EKP. Anyone tried this plug instead of Bosch FGR8KQC in a 96-99 M3? Factory is good is a common post on the list for 96-99 Bosch but I can't help but wonder about changing my 98 to NGK since many with 95's were really please in how idle smooths out, etc.. and mine could be better. Question #3 - On the applications chart, special note 2 says "Torque specifications are for unlubricated spark plugs (i.e. no oil, grease, etc. on threads)." The torque spec for Motorsport engines (M12X1.25 thread) is 17 +/- 2.2 ft/lb., Standard engine (M14x125 thread) is 23 +/- 1.5 ft/lb. I know previous postings have stated that antiseize is not a lubricant but some really got heated at the suggestion of using antiseize onlug bolts and still torquing to 73 ft/lb..............so, if @17 ft/lb (or 23 ft/lb) is the dry torque, what's the wet torque for plugs? Bentley's says 18 ft/lb. - period- and also says to use antiseize on the threads. Does it matter?? Should I care? And, aren't our plugs M14x1.25? What is the plug torque spec for M3? PS - just for fun, I tried experimenting with a lug bolt, with and without antiseize. At 73 ft/lb the antiseize allowed the bolt to turn another 5 degrees. Now that's not a lot on a lug bolt but then a lug bolt doesn't have a porcelain/copper/platinum core that's bonded to a threaded metal tube, all designed to contain millions of high pressure explosions either :-) Regards, Mike 98M3C

#8. Making 10mm spacers from 15mm spacers? - from Vern Anderson

Date: Fri, 17 May 2002 21:33:13 -0400 From: "Vern Anderson" <vernon_anderson@yahoo.com> Subject: Making 10mm spacers from 15mm spacers? Has anyone ever made a 10mm spacer from a 15mm one? I have 15mm and 5mm H&R's and I have a set of 10mm off-brand ones. The 10mm ones have gone bad on me (both are warped) and I really need a 8-10mm spacer for my rear wheel setup (17x9 SSR's w/ 245 Hoosiers - with the 5mm spacers I'm getting a little bit of rubbing on the inside of the tire). I think it would be possible to grind down a 15 to the right thickness. Any advice? I'm going to ask a few local shops tomorrow that grind rotors for me. Vern Anderson

If you want another 50 hp with a supercharger, you add a pulley and an Aquamist system for less than $1000. Another 50 hp out of a cam kit costs you... Well, $6000 for a supercharger. << Good point....As kit knows, I added an inch larger (6") drive pulley, and the aquamist, and am now putting around 350hp to the wheels. Kit is right about cost also....Thats a pretty inexpensive 50 hp, wouldnt you say?
