I would think that having it set to metric, just like the Euro cars, would be worth at least 5-10 extra HP. You may have discovered the next cool mod. --- "kitwetzler@mindspring.com" <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> wrote: > Date: Fri, 31 May 2002 18:06:13 -0400 > From: "kitwetzler@mindspring.com" > <kitwetzler@mindspring.com> > Subject: climate control woes SOLVED! > > > However, the new unit is in metric. Date: Fri, 31 May 2002 19:17:23 EDT From: NSimon1111@aol.com Subject: Re: OBDII cam kit and cam journal scoring Wayne - It looks like damage on your car was to the cam itself. On mine, it is to the exhaust cam journal -- the "carrier" in which the cam sits. Since the cam is hardened steel and the journal aluminum, it makes sense that a metal shaving would score the softer journal before damaging the cam. Our concern is that there would be increased friction and wear that could eventually damage the camshaft. Neil 99 M Coupe

I had always *heard* that the 3.0 does not fit a 3.2. however I have no firsthand experience of this either way. Anybody know the cost difference? Also, the BMW one is plastic -- is the shrick plastic or metal? I would think plastic would be preferable.. - reid > >> The BMW 3.0 manifold will NOT fir the 3.2. > > Wrong. Bolts right up. If you look on www.bmw-m.net, you'll see the flowbench tests that I did of all the various intake manifolds. The OBDI manifold clearly flowed more than all the others. Thus, I'm guessing that installing a Schrick intake over the OBDI intake will net less power, not more. It's basically just a toothed belt and a couple bearings inside (that's maybe a little over-simplified, but probably close to accurate). Check with either Powerdyne or the Mustang/Ford boards. I'm sure you'll be able to have it rebuilt for much less than what a new unit costs.
