The chrome trim looks really cool. Has anyone seen this done? How much would it cost? - Mark P.S. thanks to all who replied about repaired wheels. I mailed some serious questions to WheelCollisionCenter.com and am satisfied enough with the answers to attempt the repair to the wheel. It will, however, remain as my spare and not be mounted for daily use.

#5. Rear lights pinouts / cable colors - from Andrej Dolenc

Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 22:35:39 -0400 From: Andrej Dolenc <adolenc@erols.com> Subject: Rear lights pinouts / cable colors Gruppe, I just installed the Da'lan hitch on my '97 M3, now the only piece left to finish is to install the lights converter / connection. As I understand it, I'll have to tap into the wires that go to the rear lights. Can somebody point me to a guide which indicates which wire or which connector of the square block is for which specific light? I.E. left blinker, right blinker, parking lights, brake lights? Somebody was telling me that the pinouts on the connectors in the rear are different left to right, does that sound right? Any color codes for the wires I should be aware of? There's a few folks on the list with hitches on their M cars, so I know it's been done before! Any help here is appreciated. Thanks in advance! Andrej '97 M3

What happens is that the coolant circulates too quickly to release its heat content while passing through the radiator, so it just builds up to an overheating condition. So my advise to everyone - don't run without a functioning thermostat! #9. Factory Front and Rear Camber Settings? - from ChuckBrazeau@aol.com
Top
Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 23:29:49 -0400 From: ChuckBrazeau@aol.com Subject: Factory Front and Rear Camber Settings? I've searched through the archives for over an hour trying to find what the factory front and rear camber settings are, but i can only find recommendations for increasing the camber. I'm about to install some Bilstein struts/shocks (OEM springs) and wanted to check the camber myself with my Longacre camber/caster bubble gauge in my garage for reference before taking the car to an alignment shop to have them check it on the rack before the install and then align it afterwards, but i'd like to know before hand what the camber specs are supposed to be. Here's what my car has now for camber (approximations with bubble gauge): Front Left: neg .85 Front Right: neg .85 Rear Left: neg .85 Rear Right: neg 1.20 <--!!! I also checked these settings from the bottom and top wheel lips with a ruler and large square and the right rear definitely has more camber (or the left rear has too little?). So... what are the factory front/rear camber settings _supposed_ to be? :-P Thanks! Chuck Brazeau '95 M3 - Daytonaviolett http://www.brazeauracing.com/

#10. Soft Steering - from The Buch

Date: Sun, 09 Jun 2002 20:38:06 -0700 From: The Buch <the_buch@telus.net> Subject: Soft Steering Very interesting ... I found when I installed my new TCK 'Streetline' suspension, the car was hunting all over the place at speed, particularly in the rain ... it seemed to take about 2,000 miles to settle in, and is now stable, though somewhat more requiring of attention from the driver than stock ... DB -------------------- 9 -------------------- Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 16:34:51 -0500 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Soft Steering? Hello, All- A question: What could be some probable causes of 'soft' steering. The wheel feels light (as in no loss of power assist) but the ratio of turning in relation to rotation of the steering wheel seems slower. I did the front suspension 8 days ago and I'm going to lift the front end again to check my work and all relevant components in about an hour. Nothing felt lose in the handling this morning, just slow(er) to respond to steering input. And driving home on the highway in the rain from the airport yesterday was VERY scary. The car felt like it was floating over any water, even thin glazing, and would deflect like mad over deeper stuff. I've got Pilots all round, and the rears have about 2K on them and the fronts have twice the depth of Lincoln's head using the Penny Test. Handling was fine the last time it rained, so I'm ruling out the tires and focusing on the work I did (Koni cut 'n gut, H&R springs, CA's and bushings). Any thoughts of what to look for before I go in are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve
