The dyno place (Kaztech Motorsports) is in Hackensack, NJ - about 10 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. This particular dyno is a Dynojet but I don't know the model. I do know that they have all of the latest updates and software for it. Their normal price is $90 for 3 pulls. When I was doing work while the car was on the dyno, they charged it out at $90/hour. -Wayne

The symptoms sound very similar to what happened to me when the bolt snapped. The diff then slams against the underside of the car when you accel or shift, it then slams down into the sub-frame. I have a Big Nasty Clunk from the rear under hard acceleration. I'm thinking that maybe one of my Powerflex toe control bushings died? Not sure. It's not there if I don't romp on it... (situations that would give me wheel hop now give me Big Huge Bad Sounds) Doesn't do it over bumps, all the subframe bolts are there and accounted for, no cracks, exhaust is firmly tightened. This wasn't a normal clunking, this was the hand of God beating on the bottom of my car as I accelerated... Friend said he saw sparks out of the rear end. Something is seriously busted. I also get a clunk when I am not perfectly smooth starting off. Could the diff bushings have died? Err... I am at a loss. Sufbrame ripped out? I'd think that would be obvious. Maybe the trailing arm mounts have failed? I'd expect they'd be hanging down. Maybe the powerflex bushings died. Might be time to get some spacers from ground control. :( *Sigh* stupid car. Would love to hear suggestions. Email me off the list and I'll post a summary of the findings. -kit 97 m3/4, busted ************************************************************* List Commands UNSUBSCRIBE - (in subject line) unsubscribes you from the mailing list. #8. Re: [E36M3] Reminder: Properly adjusted mirrors - from Ron Buchalski

Date: Fri, 14 Jun 2002 15:16:37 +0000 From: "Ron Buchalski" <rbuchals@hotmail.com> Subject: Re: [E36M3] Reminder: Properly adjusted mirrors I've been using these mirror alignment methods for years, and they really broaden your view of what's going on around your car. One difference in setting the right side mirror: lean to the right until your head is in the center of your car (but still at the same height as it is in your normal driving position) and adjust the passenger side mirror so you just see the side of your car. Since the passenger mirror is wide angle ("Objects in mirror are closer than they appear"), you get a great view. If you replace your driver's side mirror with a wide angle unit ( available from a Euro BMW parts importer, but probably not from your dealer), you'll get an expanded view on the driver's side as well. TWO lanes wide! It really freaks people out when they sit in my driver's seat. They think that I don't know how to adjust my mirrors, because they can't see the sides of the car. When I ask the less clueless people to explain why I need to watch the side sheetmetal of my car, or ask them how a car can 'hide' in such a small space, they usually don't get it, and change subjects. Hint: If you're following someone, line up your driver's position with the left corner of their car, so your straight line view looks along the side of their car. If you see the driver's face in their side view mirror, you know it's set to look along the side of their car. If you make this observation over the course of a week, you'll begin to become very concerrned when you realize how many cars have their mirrors set incorrectly. -rb _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.

#9. Brake squeal AFTER applying CRC. - from Jason Sarich

Date: Fri, 14 Jun 2002 08:43:54 -0700 From: "Jason Sarich" <sarich_m3@prontomail.com> Subject: Brake squeal AFTER applying CRC. Anyone know any reason why after applying the CRC red goopy anti-squeal, and lubing all the runners/slides, my Hawk HP+ pads still HOWL like banshees? I am using the Rogue Kit on the fronts and stocks on the rears and there isn't anything I can do right to quiet these things. It is embarrassing. I am starting to get really pissed off at these things. HP+'s are not even race quality pads, yet they sound like they are Hawk Blues. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -Jason Sarich ______________________________________________________________ Get Your Free E-mail at http://www.prontomail.com

Jason, CRC is probably the best anti-squeal "stuff" you can buy for stock brakes. I wouldn't use them on aftermarket brake kits since it's a PITA to get the crap off when you need to change pads. When you use CRC, you have to let it sit for about 10 mins., use liberal amounts of brake cleaner (I use about a can of stuff for the rears) and then wipe the calipers really well with a rag. After you put everything back together, go out and bed your pads in. I use the 60-5 brake slamming method :). When I had stock brakes and used CRC, it would be a little noisy for the first 200-400 miles but that's about it. For BBK's, you might want to try the adhesive backings that you put on the pads. I've heard you can get those at NAPA auto stores but I've not had problems with my BBK. (I use Pagid Red for street, Orange for tracks that are hard on brakes) -Bobby ----- Original Message ----- > Date: Fri, 14 Jun 2002 08:43:54 -0700 > From: "Jason Sarich" <sarich_m3@prontomail.com> > Subject: Brake squeal AFTER applying CRC. > > Anyone know any reason why after applying the > CRC red goopy anti-squeal, and lubing all the > runners/slides, my Hawk HP+ pads still HOWL > like banshees? > > I am using the Rogue Kit on the fronts and > stocks on the rears and there isn't anything I > can do right to quiet these things.
