Any comments pro or con about these combinations? Any other suggestions? It looks like E46 rsm's are a good idea along with Z3 reinforcement plates, are there other parts of this type I should be looking at to enhance this upgrade? This car is street driven but sees some track time at CCA schools. I'm also looking for suggestions for spring compression tools for DIY installation. Thanks in advance, Scott 96 M3/2

Ive used this exclusively and have never had any kind of squeel after its application..This is even true on the infamously noisey Repco Deluxe pads years ago. Ive used it many times on many different pads and cars, and have never had any noise from it..I tried the CRC orange stuff once, and hated it so much I went right back to the silicon grease. And, the CRC made noise...the grease didnt. For the track I would think this would be the ideal solution. For some reason, I was thinking high temp silicone sealant, like a Permatex product. Hmmm, Paul, any issues with use of grease on your brake pads? I'd think you have to be mighty careful not to get any on the friction surface. Given my general lack of mechanical skills, I'd be a little hesitant. No. This means that you best rebuild the caliper as soon as possible. Dust and dirt will get behind there and start scoring the piston. Order: 34 11 1 157 037 - Front caliper rebuild kit You should order two kits and do both sides. FYI 34 21 1 158 578 is the rear caliper rebuild kit. Since you were replacing pads, all you needed to do is disconnect the brake line using a flare wrench (the more flare, the better...hahahaha). Then you need a block of wood to prevent the piston from shooting out all the way. You use wood to absorb the energy and prevent damage to the piston. I used a bicycle pump with a triangular rubber tip. Insert the tip into the brake line hole and pressurize slowly. The piston will be pushed out and then pop out. I would estimate no more than 15 minutes per caliper once you get used to it. Chester --- M-Power <M-Power@austin.rr.com> wrote: > How difficult is the rebuild? Had the dealer look at it before the warranty expired last fall. They said that it was a classic window motor problem. They replaced it, and I have not experenced a problem since. For this event, they had the PTG M3 GTR and V12 LMR brought in for display right in the front lobby for us to look at up close. I happened to have my digital camera with me so I snapped some pictures. You can see them here: http://64.14.56.30/m3/bmwna As part of the event, we had the product planners for each model line talk about all of the changes for the 2003 model year but other than some rain sensors, automatic lights, DVD based NAV system (instead of CD) and some new wheel styles, not much was new. They weren't about to give any secrets away like anything about the next M5 or a V8 M3 but it was still fun. -Wayne

Initially, I had some left over from Volvo, which carries a part number from their catalog....Now, I use any hi temp silicone grease that I can find in the autoparts store...Main thing you want is for the lube to maintain its integrity at high brake temps....I think they all do that. Good luck...its always worked for me, and its way less messy than the orange goop.
