#1. Brake ducting options - from Peter Fanning
Top
Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 16:20:18 -0700 From: Peter Fanning <p.fanning@verizon.net> Subject: Brake ducting options I'm looking for input regarding brake ducting options for use on a '98 M3/4. I would like to retain the road lights, be able to remove the hose for street use and not have to replace the wheel bearings to install the backing plates. I'm replacing rotors due to some very small radial cracking, no other wear issues. I already use track pads (PF90's), high temp fluid (Motul), cryo the front rotors (two piece) and have good braking technique. This has solved all the fade, warp, boil, etc. concerns. I'm hoping the ducting will solve the radial cracking. Thanks for any suggestions, Peter Fanning

The Bimmerworld kit should be what you want: http://www.bimmerworld.com/catalog/brakes.htm This was a kit I was considering, if I had ducted the M3. >I'm replacing rotors due to some very small radial cracking, no other wear >issues. #4. WTB: One 17x7.5 double-ten rim - from Jim Files

Date: Tue, 18 Jun 2002 19:18:03 -0700 From: Jim Files <jfiles@alumni.ucsd.edu> Subject: WTB: One 17x7.5 double-ten rim Hi, I am looking to purchase one rim to replace a recently killed one. Looking for a front (17x7.5) rim for a '98 M3, the split ten spokes (you know, painful to clean variety...) Also looking to use it every day on the car, so straight, true, and reasonably free of curb rash would all be nice as well. If someone has upgraded and has a rim they would like to have out of their garage, drop me an email. Located in San Diego, closer is better. Thanks for your time! Standard ducting or enhanced. Also, what brake temperature ranges might one expect on different tracks. My thought is that I should be matching my pads' temperature range to coincide with different track requirements. Peter, how many track days have you done with the cryo treated floating rotors? #7. E36 Borla race exhaust install - from shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com
Top
Date: Wed, 19 Jun 2002 12:49:18 -0400 From: shane.a.kleinpeter@accenture.com Subject: E36 Borla race exhaust install Hi all, Has anybody installed the Borla Race exhaust on an E36 325i (or other - this is a sedan if it matters)? I installed it a while back but could not make the rear can(s) fit the stock hangers at all. I thought that this was because the two square hangers were both busted, so I used baling wire (seriously) to hold it up for my last track event. Well, I'm heading to Summit Point this weekend and I want to get it mounted correctly. I took it apart last night and fought with the damn thing for three hours. I cannot understand why the rear hangers on the exhaust are designed the way they are and cannot make them fit the stock hangers. So I'm giving up and trying to find somebody who has BTDT and can tell me how. Thanks all! Shane K. #8. FS: used Pilot MXX3s - from Mdriver13@aol.com
Top
Date: Wed, 19 Jun 2002 13:30:33 EDT From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: FS: used Pilot MXX3s Would anyone be interested in my used rear Pilot MXX3s? These are 255/40/17, not the standard 245/40/17...what can I say, I like a beefy tire. They have about 18,000 miles with about 1/16" of rubber above the wear bars, and more important, the wear is very even across both tires. Wish I could say the same for the fronts, they are trash...inside edge totally worn. Going to be mounting Kumho Ecsta 712's either next week or the week after. Price $50.00 plus shipping. If you're close to Bethlehem/Philly area, delivery can be arranged. Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA AS Champion 1997 & 2000 BSP Champion 2001

#10. Chain Tensioner and Pepping Up - from Steve Klein

Date: Wed, 19 Jun 2002 13:50:46 -0500 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Chain Tensioner and Pepping Up Hello, all- What are some good sources on line for purchasing a cam chain tensioner. I understand that '96 and after are better designs, is it a straight fit onto an 11/95? I'm also going to be getting new spark plugs and belts while I'm at it. What other recommendations do you (collectively) have for pepping up an engine with 105K on the clock? I've got my eye on the O2 sensors in the near future, and my engine code consistently reads 1444. Thanks for the help, Steve
