It's cheaper to buy the whole kit from BimmerWorld. I recommend their service. I was just pointing out that the Turner kit was now bolt on. The previous owner of my car had installed the press-on Turner plates and I added the Bimmerworld flanges. I bought the Aeroduct CEET hose from an aircraft supply store in Texas. BTW, you can get more useful steering room if you cut into the area occupied by the center splash shield which is under the radiator. If you want to know now more email me off list and I can send you a couple of pictures (warning, they were taken with a $5 digital camera, YES $5; but they get the point across). I have just over 1 turn in each direction with the hose installed. I found it on a distributor's website, but it looks awfully small...Which I guess isnt an issue, but, did it fit into your hold-down clamp, or did you have to fashion something for it?Also, they dont carry a CCA rating...Is that an issue for anybody? Aptly named Syncromax, it is designed specifically for manual transmissions. I've had virtually every fluid in my tranny...Redline D4-ATF, MFL, Royal Purple ATF, and they all seem to be pretty much the same. The Syncromax, however, is the first time I noticed a marked improvement in 1st and 2nd gear engagement. The product doesn't even appear on their website yet (www.royalpurple.com) and none of their online retailers seem to stock it either. I got mine from Kevin Hale @ Karl Knauz BMW. Around $10/quart (of course you need 2 for your tranny). No affiliation with Royal Purple or Karl Knauz BMW. Regards, Ben Liaw Rogue Engineering . 201.444.8150

Preece" <gapreece@entreky.net> Subject: RE: dyna batt Paul, I did go to AutoZone and pick up a 2 ga. negative cable to fit the bigger post on the Dyna-Batt. I got one that was 15" long and turned the battery side ways. It did NOT fit in the hold downs at all. I took the tough plastic packing that came with the battery, cut to fit, and stuffed it in the open cavities to wedge it in. Very lightweight and tight. I took a picture if anyone wants to see. The part number is 5575B (top post). Shippping was $15.00. (www.performancedistributors.com) So far, it starts my M3 much faster than the dying stock one (of course) and have had no problems even with a 6 x 50w Kicker amp. Maybe Ben can pipe in as to longevity. Not a single problem through the winter with starting. I've got an alarm, cell phone charger (which is always on), but only an upgraded stereo headunit. No problems, even when using the Z8 starter button in the car. :-) For me, it was the perfect solution. Since my 330ti had it's battery relocated to the rear hatch, I lost some valuable storage real estate. Ditching the entire battery box and using the DynaBatt gives me all the room of a standard 318ti again. I'm told that dry cell batteries are not rated in the same way a traditional battery is (with CCA). #10. Re: Bimmerworld ducts on a daily driver - from JUSTIN GERRY

Date: Thu, 20 Jun 2002 09:38:47 -0400 From: "JUSTIN GERRY" <JGERRY@butchers.com> Subject: Re: Bimmerworld ducts on a daily driver > Does anyone run the Bimmerworld M3 duct kit on a street car? Yep I run them all the time (the backing plates that is). Winter driving included. I cover up the front flange on the wheel liner in the winter to keep the salt/sand/snow out. Powder coating is great for rust protection as I had no visible corrosion on the backing plate. > Is hose removal required to drive on the street and get anything near full steering lock? Yes, you ONLY want to run the hoses at the track otherwise you will grind them to pieces in no time. >Can someone please explain to me what the "flanges" are? Flange (s) are where you hook up the hose that runs from the wheel liner to your ducts. >It looks like they might help attach the hose to the existing brake duct but I can't tell. A friend of mine who installed a few of these kits actually drilled a hole in the side of the factory brake duct piece and put the bimmerworld hose in it. This of course connects to the flange that is on the wheel liner. Very slick setup, looks almost stock and I still have my fog lights. > I have the BMP cooling ducts that go in place of the OEM driving lights (yeah right!) so I assume I could connect the Bimmerworld hose to them? I would think so, but you will have to get the flange that connects to the wheel liner. You really want to mount the wheel liner flange as far inside to the center of the car as possible to give yourself more steering range and to avoid rubbing. If you add the ducts, you might want to seriously think about reinforcing your wheel liners as the extra weight of the tubing tends to rip the liner off of the car. -Justin -- '76 02 (Whimsical) '97 M3 (Orion) BMW CCA#77056 check out http://users.vei.net/jgerry
