My neighbor's friend did this mod to his Supra. Without touching the bottom end of the engine, and by replacing the twin-turbo with a single turbo, adding some intake and exhaust plumbing mods, and new software, horsepower went from 320(?) to 600! From 3 liters! -rb >Date: Fri, 21 Jun 2002 10:20:48 -0700 (PDT) >From: Robert Liu <bob_a_liu@yahoo.com> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] E36 M3 Twin Turbos > >The biggest problem I can see is the control of the >wastegate and a method for diverting flow between the >turbos to optimize the advantage for having the two >turbos. At the place that I do all of my dyno testing, they built a slightly modified Supra Turbo with stock internals. Look at this graph comparing my engine (with the full OBDII cam kit and underdrive pulleys) to that one. BTW, this is BEFORE they added the NOS a few weeks ago. I have seen this car myself and will one day go for a ride in it. Enjoy: http://64.14.56.30/m3/underdrive/TurboCompare.jpg -Wayne

They're very loud on the street. Its actually the bearing in them that develops a little play and makes the loud noise. Before there is any wear noticeable by any other means, the sounds kicks in. I just replaced the bearings (an inexpensive part inside the overall housing) on my club racer and my car was quiet for one or two track days. Now its back to sounding like the rear end is going to fall out over any bump. -Al #328 JP

The toolkit in the trunk of the car should have a spark plug socket just long enough to reach the plugs way down in the block. I've used that one for the plug changes I've done myself. Andrej '97 M3
