Date: Wed, 26 Jun 2002 17:35:51 -0500 From: Mike Frank <mfrank28@comcast.net> Subject: RE: Brake Pad Query Mel Depends what you're looking for. I've run Deluxes on the street for a few years now. I like them because they dust very little (and it's a silver color). A few consecutive HARD stops (like at the track) and they will fade. They don't bite quite as good as stock, but you will still be able to out brake just about everyone else on the street. I leave my front ducts on all the time so that helps. Either way, I do almost all of my hard driving at the track. I think the key is if you drive fast enough on the street where you're getting into the brakes hard repeatedly, you'll want to look elsewhere. I've seen posts about other pads that people claim dust very little but also won't fade. Might be worth checking into. The Deluxes work fine for me. I actually have a pair on my shelf, too, waiting to go on the street car soon. I had them on a modded E36 325i and I was quite satisfied. Date: Wed, 26 Jun 2002 22:14:07 EDT From: KLchmn@aol.com Subject: Re: [E36M3] Brake Pads (PBR Deluxes) In a message dated 6/26/02 1:24:08 PM Pacific Daylight Time, melsilva@mindspring.com writes: Mel, I have the PBR on my '92 525i (w/5-speed, 'natch). These pads are the exact same as E36 M3 pads and the 525i is heavier than your M3. The pads work just fine for aggressive, hostile, nasty street commuting. I've hauled the beast down from hyper-velocities to legal limits with no problems whatsoever. My wife even used them waaaaay back when as a D student at her first ever driving school (it was a cold weekend). Multiple 5/10ths stops on the track when I took the car out didn't seem to bother it too much. The pads don't dust, don't squeal (especially if you romp on them once in a while), and last a loooong time. I don't recommend these pads for track use (stock or track pads much better), but for the street they are more than adequate, especially if dust is a concern for you. You won't stop as well as stock, Pagid, or Hawk street pads, but you will stop nearly as well. Cheers, Kirk Lachman Sin City Chapter '95 M3 #21 I-stock
