I might have said this. =) Instead of removing the tail lamp covers and pushing the carpet to the front of the trunk, on a 2dr with fold down seats, you can remove the interior side bolsters, remove the body rivets holding the carpet in place and push the carpet back. If you have stock rear speakers, I think you might not even have to remove them. Chester --- "Robert S. If you have the fold down seats, you can fold them down, remove the side bolsters, peel back a bit of the trunk liner and you're good to go... That's everything as I remember it anyway, but it's been a while. Jonathan L. >From: "Robert S. Hatrak II" <hatrak@ix.netcom.com> >Reply-To: "Robert S. That's the torque at which static breakaway occurs. It should be around 40 ft-lbs for a stocker. > Here's an idea for you. Something to try at least. It's also the fast way to burn up, gall, pit, overheat and otherwise destroy what's left of the friction materials that allow your diff to limit slip in the first place. This will make rebuild come sooner, rather than buying you more time. And it's noisy, too. Andrew http://www.taylorautosport.com/

Yes, you can do it that way too. The first time I removed the rear interior to access the RSM's it took me about a half hour. Now that I have done it so many times the "normal" way, I have got it down to a few minutes per side to access the RSM's. -- Rex Tener rex_tener@yahoo.com 1996 BMW M3, SCCA SFR Solo II Street-Mod #173

On both accounts, in my case, yes. To further clarify, however, I found actually removing and installing the RSM's to be easier from the trunk than from inside the car. Until next time... Some do run the MTL but ATF is what is generally recommended. As was mentioned 75W90 in the Diff. I recently ordered from a company I was very happy with. Price was 8.15 Quart but you get free shipping if you order $39.00 worth. I ordered 2 ATFs and 3 75W90s as it will allow to do the diff twice for around $41.00 shipped which is what it would have cost me for 4 quarts and shipping otherwise (I needed 2 day). Shipping was prompt. http://www.auto-motor-oil.com/ No affiliation. Brad __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Sign up for SBC Yahoo! #10. MTL in diff - from TFRM3@aol.com
Top
Date: Tue, 9 Jul 2002 19:01:02 EDT From: TFRM3@aol.com Subject: MTL in diff I have seen this done before, and the diff lasted 5-6 laps. MTL is designed to ADD friction under load, as when a brake ring / synchro is slowing down a gear in preperation for engagement. Oil, being stupid, does not know the difference between a synchro and a ring and pinion under acceleration, so the diff just fried. (I didn't do it). I have tried my favorite Redline "Shockproof" in my diff, and it was not happy. First time it hasn't been best. I now use 85/90 NS. My trans seems happy with "Lightweight Shockproof", but I like 50/50 MTL/ ATF for the street. Jay Morris. yes, that was me who was high bidder on the autographed photo of Vanilla Ice.
