Date: Tue, 16 Jul 2002 11:49:59 -0500 From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> Subject: Slightly OT - Directions from Watkins Glen to Pittsburgh and my rollbar review I am attending a 3 day school at Watkins Glen starting tomorrow and will be driving to Pittsburgh for the Vintage Grand Prix on Friday. Does anyone know a good way to go because there aren't any direct roads. It looks like I have to take 80 but what is the best way from The Glen to 80? In other news, I picked up my car on Saturday from VAC Motorsports ( www.vacmotorsports.com ) with its nice new welded in roll bar (with removable center section) and 5 point TeamTech harnesses. They did an excellent job and I was surprised that the roll bar is not all that noticeable. For the laptop belts, they put eye-bolts through the floor behind the seats and the belts clip in there and for the sub-strap, they did a lot of work cutting through the various layers of metal where the slot for the movable section is and tied the strap around the metal brace that is part of the seat right under there. I lost the movement of the forward section but I never moved it anyway so I don't mind. I will take pictures of it so it will be clearer. The only downside is that the TeamTech harness has the buckle attached to the 5th point so the large collector-plate fabric thing is always there and isn't easily removed. Either I sit on it (the big buckle can be removed so it isn't too bad) or fold it forward over the front of the seat. Again, with pictures this will all be much clearer. Anyway, if you know the way from Watkins Glen to Pittsburgh, please let me know and I'll probably see some of you there. Stop by and say hi - I have the black E36 M3 and I'll probably be parked next to a few of those slower silver cars.... -Wayne

Does anyone know offhand what size flare wrench I will need to remove the stock Lines? Looks like a pretty easy job. Any other guidance would be appreciated. Date: Tue, 16 Jul 2002 19:09:25 -0500 From: <ajoseph1981@earthlink.net> Subject: Well, let's try 18x8's Gruppe: In my ever-lasting search for wheels that feed my geek-factor for techiness and my cool-factor for looks, I think I have lit upon the BBS LM's...yeah, yeah $$$$$$$$$$-trying to justify this to myself, too. The rub here is they are only available (hmmmm??? thought they were built to spec?) in the correct offset for our vehicles in 18x8. Anyone care to share their experience with 18 inchers in the good 'ol Midwest, land of winter induced potholes and shrinking road maintenance budgets? Decided against the Revolutions due to porosity concerns expressed by other users. Once again thanking the list, Andrew Joseph ajoseph1981@earthlink.net

#10. : Need a 8.5" x 17" wheel for spare - from Paul Elliott

I use my trunk fully, and it will be a hassle for me..Maybe, if its bad, I'll have to buy something real cheap in a 7.5" size to use for the spare.
