Preece" <gapreece@entreky.net> Subject: fan take off I have found that a cheap 1 and 1/4" wrench works perfect and is stronger than the bicycle wrench. Just wack it with a rubber mallet (backwards) to the right. It is actually 32 mm but they are nearly identicle. Gary --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]

This is for my race car so price is more important that perfection, but I am not looking for a junker either. If I can locate such a piece I will sell my grey armrest console. TIA Please respond privately unless there is a benefit to the list. Thanks, Mike Turgeon 95 M3 Avus #??? I-Stock __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! #4. Supercharger wo's (sort of long) - from HYPERM3@aol.com

Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 08:57:48 EDT From: HYPERM3@aol.com Subject: Supercharger wo's (sort of long) If anyone has been following, Ive been having problems lately with my car. At WOT around 5500 the car would stutter and feel like it hit a wall of air and not want to go faster. The car wouldn't start on the first turn, not even try to turn over, just electric's come on. I would only show about 2 pounds of boost consistently. So the other day myself and a couple other listers decided to take apart my supercharger piping. First thing we found was my MAF was cruddy. One time before, my air filter fell off and the car sucked up leaves that were in the bumper (fog light was out). There was still remnant on the screen of this so we blew it all out with a high pressure air hose. Next thing we found was my throttle body butterfly only opened to 90%. So after playing with the accelerator stop, got it to open all the way. It was tight and never touched it before, I think others should check this out just for their own sake. Then after putting it all back together I got a flat tire on the first test run no more than 15 seconds and second gear into it. BIMMER BUMMER. OK, with spare on. Car is smooth all the way to redline, no bumps at or around 5500. Apparently there was an air leak in the piping. Car doesn't always start up still on first turn. Dealer is thinking the key is going bad, I still have yet to try my back ups. Boost shows 6.5 lbs one time, and 2 the next. Thinking there is a kink in the gauge line. So there ya have it, Thanks for listening. Alex "HyperM3" Demsky 97 S/C M3

#6. Driver side window woes... - from Juan Rico

Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 07:11:37 -0700 From: Juan Rico <juan_rico@captionsinc.com> Subject: Driver side window woes... Hi, Every once in a while, when I lower my side window I hear this horrible ratchety-machine gun like sound, as if a gear is skipping somewhere inside the door and my window doesn't move. This is solved by tapping the window so that something "catches" somewhere and then everything is fine. Since I don't know what is inside the door or what the window mechanism looks like, can anyone tell me what might be happening here and what is at fault? It seems like everything is working fine, just that something is out of place... Anybody have a similar experience? Juan.

#7. Garage Floor Expoxy - from RFKoby@aol.com

Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 12:58:19 -0400 From: RFKoby@aol.com Subject: Garage Floor Expoxy Peter, My wife & I designed and built (subcontracted) our own "garage with attached house" last year. [1,800 sq.ft. garage, with 2,000 sq.ft. house] We did the exact same thing. Since we were doing the finish work, we finished the garage floor first to keep everything clean. You have perfect opportunity to finish the floor since it is new concrete. Make sure the concrete is fully cured!! Place a plastic tarp over the concrete and let is sit over night. If there is condensation under the plastic, then the concrete is still curing... I used the Rust-o-leum 9000 and 9100 system. This is the high solids, 2 part, polyurethane system. You have to acid etch the new floor to get the residual calcium off, dirt, oil, etc...... I bought 4 gallons of acid etch, 6 gallons of expoxy, and 6 gallons of activator for right around $900. The garage is 1,800 sq.ft. and I bought enough material to cover an estimated 2,200 sq.ft. (I didn't want to run short, my floor has a sidewalk type rough finish for anti-slip) Each 2 gallon mixed pair ended up covering about 1/3 of the garage. I ended up putting 2 coats on the entire garage. I used the Steel?? Grey color. The final result was much better then expected. Very high gloss finish, and very durable. Hot race tires do NOT lift the paint at all. You can scratch the surface, the gloss can come back when you recover with clear in 5-10 years...... The finish is so glossy, that the late afternoon sun reflects off of the floor and lights the entire garage. Sometimes I have to close the garage doors because there is too much glare. Contact your local industrial supply houses..... they should be able to get the epoxy paint for you. There might be a minimum order, so you might have to get a few friends together.... if you have any questions contact me privately.... bob > -------------------- 8 -------------------- > Date: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 20:05:29 -0700 > From: Peter Guagenti <peter@guagenti.com> > Subject: OT: Garage Floor Finishing Options? > > I am proud to say that I finally have a close date on my new (and first!) > house. When we sealed our Shop floor at Eurosport we used a product called PaverPro and another product called GroundZero. Ground Zero is a surface hardener and prep for the PaverPro 2 part Epoxy. To be honest I am amazed at how well the PaverPro wears. Even with heavy traffic we still see no obvious wear/chipping/peeling. This product is also nice in that it doesn't require any special respirators/bunny suits to safely apply. If you want more info I would recommend calling the number on the website at http://www.primeshop.com/seal.htm As far as shelving, I would recommend that you design and build your own. If you want I can send you some photos of the shelves that I built for our parts storage. When I worked as a mechanic at the local BMW dealership I found that most mechanics chose the following method of fan removal. You get a 32mm or a 1 3/16ths combination wrench and grind the sides of the open end of the wrench on a bench grinder until the wrench end is about 10mm or ~3/8" thick. I would recommend Sears as there wrenches are a lot less money than the $80+ dollar Snap-On wrench that I modified. All you have to do to remove the fan is to place the open end of the wrench on the fan nut and hit the top end (box end) of the wrench with a hammer in the clockwise direction. With a couple of smacks the nut should come loose. To install the fan simply spin it on until it bottoms out on the water pump and then place the wrench on the nut and give it a single counterclockwise whack with the hammer. Since your car is supercharged and you have an extended fan nut, you may not need to grind the wrench thinner for clearance with the water pump pulley bolts. Regards,
