If you've added more toe-in in the front, you'll loose the turn-in responsiveness that you're describing. I went from 0 toe-in up front to 0.15 degree toe-in (each) up front and the car is definitely less sharp, but then again, it cruises down the highway straight and doesn't catch every rut. I may go back to 0.07 degree toe-in per side to regain some of the nimbleness. (Max toe-in spec for an M3 is 0.25 degree per side, I believe.) Thanks, Colin '98 M3 (Dinan Stage I, JC intake + chip, X-brace, Euro rotors, R4S....) ********* Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 17:11:38 -0500 From: Steve Klein <klein@robinsonad.com> Subject: Re: Klunking and O2 Thanks to all who've replied- ...There was a hesitation in the car's response that felt like it took a split second to shift its weight before transitioning. Now the car feels solid and connected, but still responds a little late and with less enthusiasm than it originally did. Needless to say, I'm trying to get back to that immediate feeling... Thanks again, all- Steve

#3. Gas smell in car - from Jay Johnson

Date: Wed, 31 Jul 2002 12:49:30 -0800 From: Jay Johnson <jay@pactitle.com> Subject: Gas smell in car So I pull into work and notice a strong gas odor in the car. I look under the car at the fuel filter and see no leaks. But I remember reading sometime back on the digest about a failed clamp that connects to the fuel pump. Do you get to that clam from the rear passenger interior side? Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Jay Johnson 95M3 dakar/chip/intake

The car really feels planted, but there is a nimbleness of the steering that I've lost." Though I've not done much to my 99M3/2, I have recently installed the 'X-brace'. And even with Pilot Sports of 37K wear (on the bars), there was a significant increase in turn-in response. Additionally, the M felt settled and controlled when transitioning across the expressway 'lane waves'. I'd have to say the 'X-brace' is just about the best most responsive mod for the money. My suspicion is that - if you have just done a 'suspension replace', and have not gotten an alignment, that you need an alignment. KLBurgess

Remove the rear seat and see if there is any fuel under there, where the level sensor is. I had a fuel leak on the line going between the filter to the hard pipe on the intake manifold. I could see this by looking under the intake manifold. Good luck. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Sign up for SBC Yahoo! I just received a HF catalog w/ a TQ wrench I ordered and my number was different for the free shipping. I tried using the coupon online but that didn't work so I had to call it in. In the end, I have it being delivered to my door for a total of $190.94 because they give you free shipping but charge $5.95 for handling (then minus the $5). I haven't seen one in person or tried it out yet so don't cry to me if you don't like it but I doubt that you will get a better deal than this. -Wayne P.S. Ordering from them is interesting because they keep trying to tell you stuff like telemarketers.

#8. will 318ti rear shocks fit an E36 M3? - from Chris Papademetrious
Top
Date: Wed, 31 Jul 2002 17:43:00 -0400 From: Chris Papademetrious <chrispy@ieee.org> Subject: will 318ti rear shocks fit an E36 M3? Everyone, I need to send my Bilsteins back to Bilstein to be rebuilt, due to a problem with one of the shocks. My buddy used to have an E36 318ti hatchback, and has a pair of dead rear Konis that he made available to me if they would fit. I only need something to fit in there and take up space for a couple weeks. I work from home, so I don't have a daily commute to worry about. However, I seem to recall that the 318ti uses E30 rear suspension, so perhaps this won't work. I'm hoping that even if this is so and all the other springs and perches are different, that perhaps the shock itself will still bolt up. Will E36 318ti rear shocks work in my E36 M3? Thanks in advance, - Chris

Did you notice any unusual tire wear with zero toe? I went from factory spec to 0.12 degree toe-out for better autox turn in response and suffered terrible inside edge tire wear on my street tires :-( Need to move the toe back to a point where my street tires will not disintegrate, but not too far.
