Pretty easy to get to from under rear seat. One source of switched power is the turn-on lead for the factory amp. It's usually a white wire and is probably on the left side, going under the rear seatback. The signal is fairly weak on this lead, but you could use a bosch relay. Also, it'll only be hot when the radio and ignition is on. You could probably also get batt and gnd from the same bundle, going to the factory amp. Go to www.unofficialbmw.com. I think they have pin IDs and wire colors for the amp. As you know, it's in the Bentley too. Depends on year/model. I'm not sure you can be 100% on wire colors, but the pin IDs were correct for mine. With some more research sci.chem, it looks like the freezing point of water is depressed by -1.86C/ molal methanol. Or you can use the weighted average of the melting points (0 and -186), by weight. Here is a table that should be accurate: % Methanol % by volume by wt Freezing point (deg C) 6 4.8 -2 14 11.3 -5 17 13.8 -6.1 20.2 16.4 -7.5 24.8 20.3 -10.6 29.5 24.2 -14.0 40.5 33.8 -23.6 -Matt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I got mine from Eurasian for $62 apiece, the cheapest dealer price was around $90 ea. I don't know the size of the previous owner of the car, but I think he must have been a little bigger than me - the seat on the passenger side was in excellent condition but the driver's side had severe bolster wear and deteriorating foam pads. Also, your dealer apparently missed a few not-unimportant hog rings when they redid your seat, they hold the leather "channels" in place. There's a WHOLE BUNCH of them under there - I know this as I just pulled 'em all out a month or so ago. I have new foam pads, new heater pads on the way, and the leather repair and dye kit from Leatherique (www.leatherique.com) that I hope to get around to applying sometime soon... arrrgh. A full kit for 2 front seats (and a little extra) is less than $100. Oh, you'll also need a hog-ring plier and hog-ring set - my friend Al ordered them, but I don't remember where he got 'em. Price was under $20 for that... It's time consuming and labor intensive... I think you should allow at least 3-4 days just for the leatherique stage alone. I am lucky enough to have a friend who is loaning me a driver's seat while I work on mine, so I'm not trying to rush through the job... hope that helps, scott Gary wrote: Subject: seat restoration Hey Gals and Guys, My seat in my 95 M3 is deteriorating quickly. The heating elements were replaced a couple of years ago by the dealer and it has not fit just right since. Is it possible to replace the leather and foam while keeping the frame? Does anyone know the cost? I have been looking for a used seat in gray, but have not had any luck. Thanks. Gary __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! It leaves a nice uniform coat and you don't get brush strokes. You can even get creative and do a two-tone color scheme ;) Chester > It's time consuming and labor intensive... #7. FS: 4 used stock double-spoke 1998 M3 wheels, with worn MXX3s - from David Ripton

Date: Sun, 04 Aug 2002 16:35:15 -0400 From: David Ripton <dripton@ripton.net> Subject: FS: 4 used stock double-spoke 1998 M3 wheels, with worn MXX3s Selling the original 4 stock wheels from my 1998 M3/4. (Keeping the fifth as a spare.) They're staggered 17x7.5" / 17x8.5" sizes, in the later M double-spoke style. The wheels are straight, but not cosmetically perfect -- there is some curb rash and pitting from brake dust. They currently have Michelin MXX3s mounted, in the stock sizes of 225/45R17 F, 245/40R17 R. Two of them (one front and one rear) are very worn; the other two have decent tread left. I'll throw the tires in for free with the wheels, or have them removed and ship the wheels bare, at the buyer's discretion. Asking $400 plus actual shipping cost. (If you're in the DC area you can come pick them up instead -- I'm in Ashburn VA, near Dulles.) I'll wait until Wednesday for responses from this list, then put 'em on eBay. #8. Good Deal on PF97 brake pads - from Mo Karamat
Top
Date: Sun, 04 Aug 2002 20:45:01 -0400 From: Mo Karamat <karamatm@optonline.net> Subject: Good Deal on PF97 brake pads Dear All, I did some research on the PF97's and I found a company who is willing to give us a good deal on the pads. The cost would be $127.88 per axle + a handling charge of $5.00 (per order, so if you order 2 sets it would still be $5.00) + shipping (approx $8 to Northern N.J). So for front and rears it would be $260.76 + shipping. I know that Porterfield gives us a discount as well, their price is $144.93 an axle. So that would be $289.86. This deal saves us about $30. The only thing is that for a first time order I need to put together 18-20 sets. So If each person buys fronts & rears that would be 9 people. If you are interested, please e-mail me directly. I will need your name, and a contact # where the company could reach you to get your credit cart info. Mo

#10. 235/40 Yokohama AVS Intermediate on stock ('98) front rims? - from Hans Bouwmeester

Subject: 235/40 Yokohama AVS Intermediate on stock ('98) front rims?
Hi,
I noticed the TireRack is selling the Yokohama AVS Intermediate tires
for $65 each. Quite a steal since I will only be using them to get to
and from the track. My question now is whether the 235/40 size will fit
my front stock rims (1998 E36 M3)? They don't have the 225/45 size...
Thanks in advance!
Hans Bouwmeester.
