I just wante to take the opportunity to say thanks to Ben Liaw for his original post on Synchromax and for Chris for identifying http://www.buyracegas.com/ as an online source. I ordered two quarts, FEDEX delivered on Saturday and put it in this morning. My first impressions are exactly as Chris noted in his attached post. I, too, had initial good luck with Mobil 1 Synth ATF but the benefits began to fall off after 5K miles and at 10K miles I was getting hang-up coming out of first gear when cold, difficulty getting into first without bumping into 5th, you know the routine as you've all read it before. I've also been down the R&R path under warranty for a new master and slave cylinders, dealer switching to Redline D4...heck, the dealer even tried Redline MTL, no luck. Well, now I also have a shifter that rivals most Toyotas and Hondas ....smoth, crisp, and just an occasional second bump to get into first when standing still. Like the subject line says....great stuff, I just hope that the additives that Royal Purple claim are providing this benefit hold up but, for now, I'm one happy camper ....er, shifter ;-) Mike 98M3C > -------------------- 11 -------------------- > Date: Fri, 02 Aug 2002 15:21:07 -0400 > From: Chris Papademetrious <chrispy@ieee.org> > Subject: Royal Purple Syncromax - great stuff! > > I've been having a problem with transmission notchiness recently, and > decided to try Ben Liaw's advice and get some Royal Purple Syncromax. It's not too uncommon for these things to start seeping around the head gasket. Especially by cylinder 6. Take the reservoir cap off while you do it and leave each cylinder pressurized for a while, not just long enough to get the initial reading. That way you can see if it pressurizes the coolant reservoir. -- Roger "Gary A. Preece" <gapreece@entreky.net> wrote: >Need ideas on where to look for the leak. #7. JimC/Eurosport Intake for sale (E36) - from Jay Sala

Date: Tue, 03 Sep 2002 18:28:14 +0800 From: Jay Sala <jsala@mist.com> Subject: JimC/Eurosport Intake for sale (E36) Hi all, Its been a while since I have posted. I hope everyone is doing well. It doesn't look like I will be getting an E36 anytime soon, sadly, so I have decided to sell my Jim C intake, which I had used for just 4 months in my E36 328i. During that time, I probably only covered 2,000 miles since I was travelling a lot for work. This intake will fit the E36 323/328/M3. In my opinion, the intake gave midrange torque and high-rpm power a nice boost, and made every last rev very usable. It has a nice throaty intake snarl too that is sporty without being overly loud. In all, a very effective, while still mature intake system. This is the very last upgrade part that I am selling from my car -- I liked it so much that I kept it just in case I got another E36. I'll put the intake on ebay and other sites in a few days, but would like to offer it here first. Price: $299, including shipping. Includes the filter, intake tube, the heat shield, all the nuts/screws that I took off, and a can of the intake cleaner. New price at Eurosport is $399 plus shipping (it cost me about $440 in all). If you are interested, please contact me at: jsala@mist.com. Thanks, and regards, - Jay

#8. Brake Light Circuit Help Needed! - from Tom Tice

Date: Tue, 3 Sep 2002 08:12:15 -0700 From: "Tom Tice" <tetice@triad.rr.com> Subject: Brake Light Circuit Help Needed! My brake lights have stopped working. Bulbs and fuses are fine. Are there any typical/chronic problems on an E36 that I should be aware of before I dig into this problem. Also any hints are welcome as to the most efficient way to track down this problem. The check control system signals this problem also, for what that's worth. Also I can hear the brake pedal switch actuating when pressed. That's about as far as I have gone so far - time to break out the voltmeter I guess. TIA, Tom Tice '98 M3/4 '99 540/6 '02 325iT

So Jim C's intake parts are identical between the E36 323/328/M3? Is there a version of his shark injector that needs to be purchased to take advantage of the intake?
