And you'll have an edge over the '95's that will be in your class next year under the new classification system. Other things you "must" do are: 1. Reinforce front & rear sway bar bushings (Turner sells nice cheap kits for this) 2. Read all the other CCA CR safety bulletins and do the work. 3. Aftermarket cat-back exhaust 4. Get rid of all those nasty hose clips and install proper hose clamps 5. Tighten up all those bushings by replacing with Powerflex or the wide array of others available 6. Get the proper alignment (3 deg neg front, 2.5 deg neg rear, zero toe is good for starters) 7. Proper driver's seat and harness 8. Fire suppression system meeting CCA CR specs 9. 8.5" wheels all around (some run 9" but they're illegal) 10. AMB Transponder (order from CCA CR) 11. Seat back brace (unless you can prove conclusively that your new seat and its installation are FIA approved) 12. Bimmerworld brake cooling kit 13. Good racing brake pads (PF97 or Hawk Blues or Pagid Orange, among others. Will not debate here which is best.) 14. Racing suit and gloves and shoes (I'm assuming of course you've already got the helmet for schools) 15. CCA CR license You can also do (in no particular order) if you feel like spending the time & money: 1. Camera mount for cage 2. Stainless steel brake lines (Steve D'G sells the best) 3. Fresh air intake to feed the JC 4. Remove the viscous clutch and attached engine cooling fan, along with the a/c condenser coils and a/c drive belt 5. Replace water pump. Just because. 6. Replace brake master cylinder. Just because. (Mine went south at the Glen - not fun. Seems to happen right after folks switch to ATE Super Blue fluid, which is also a good idea) 7. Tighten and lock the oil pump nut 8. Wide angle rear view mirror (Racer Parts Wholesale) 9. SFI-rated padding for the cage to protect your head a little better 10. Dinan Rear tower brace 11. 245/40 Hoosiers 12. 3-day Skippy racing school 13. Supply of duct tape 14. JTD underpanel or reinforce the heck out of the stock one (see # 13 above) 15. LTW replica splitter & wing ($$) I'm sure there's a lot more that I've forgotten or just never known about, but this is a very good starting menu on top of what you've already done. In other words if I want to dial out 3/16 of total toe-out how many turns should I turn each adjuster? 3 degrees of negative camber and 3/16 toe-out is eating my tires but damn it sure is fun to drive. Guys, Just replaced my OEM rear shocks, and I noticed that when I compressed the shock by hand (off the car), the shaft did not rebound on its own. It just stayed down inside the shock housing. Well, I did two pulls and came up with a disappointing 198.3 peak hp at about 6K rpm. From what I've been able to find, a stock '95 should come up to 210-215, seen as high as 218 mentioned. Peak torque was 194.5 at 4300 rpm. The Air/fuel ratio stayed between 14.5 and 13.5 (got richer toward redline). The engine has had some VANOS problems and I've been through about 3 of those...grrrrr! Any suggestions of direction to go here? The car has been reasonably well maintained. Had full synthetic most of it's life, changed very regularly. Runs cool according to funky BMW temp gauge. Had the water pump issue addressed before the old one failed. Run proper plugs. Hasn't been tracked (yet) or abused. Thanks for any advice offered! Second, 198HP is very good for a bone stock '95. Anywhere between 190 and 200 is normal. I don't know where you got the 210-215rwhp number from, but there's no way a stock 95 is gonna put out that much power. 210-215rwhp is the domain of chip and CAI equipped cars.
