That was a cool handling car but it was kept mostly stock. Besides being a "chick" car, it was fun to drive. -Bobby ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Liu" <bob_a_liu@yahoo.com> > > --- Robert Chay <rchay@mindspring.com> wrote: > > pps. Talk about getting a grip! I think you mis-read something in Rich's post. There was no name calling or finger pointing that I could see. He even made a point to mention that he was just kidding at the end..... I see you're giving a lot of advice about tires, and blaming them for the incident. Just to keep things in perspective, tires and roads are pretty dumb when they're brand new and they don't get any smarter or dumber as they wear. They never make decisions, bad or good. Could it be that YOU were driving too fast or aggressively? Just want to make sure that you don't think some upgrade will save you on the track. Oh wait, there is ONE upgrade that will help on all tracks...upgrading The Nut Behind The Wheel. This is not a slam, just clarification on what causes OTEs. Again, glad it's only twisted metal. - Chip "The old-timer that lurks" E. - __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? While tires might not get smarter as they wear, they do get heat cycled and lose grip, no? I agree, the best upgrade is to upgrade the nut behind the wheel and I've been going to driver schools for that. I would say that my driving abilities have grown considerably since I first bought the car. Was I going too fast? I was not accelerating hard and the part of the highway right after the merge curved left. I was following some car in front of me not gaining or losing (and it was a regular sedan) and knew that my tires were worn and it was raining so I wasn't pushing at all. More fine tuning of the nut behind the wheel would have seen me go even slower I guess. When the tail stepped out, I would estimate that I was going 45 - 50 mph and didn't lose any speed throughout the spin. When I got out of the car, the road was real slick and all the dirt got washed onto the highway. Personally, I've never stepped on a highway in the rain and it was a bit of a surprise to me at just how slick it was. Chalk it up to experience.
