#1. WTB: Used 17" Hoosiers or other R's - from Rob

I ran Kumho V700's last year and wasn't thrilled with them. I am thinking about a switch to Hoosiers but I know they will cost me 2x as much per season. I'd love to buy a used set with ~2+ days left on them so I can try 'em out before taking the plunge! I would also consider used RA1's or Goodyears. Regards, Rob

How much are you willing to pay? These things are in pretty good shape and they are not cheap! First gold, then blue, then rainbow. Look at the headers of a motorcycle to see what I mean. They way you avoid this on a motorcycle is to let the bike sit on the center stand and warm up to operating temperature, few minutes, before wailing on it. As a side note my AA never turned colors? Go to a motorcycle store and ask them for polish to remove bluing from the headers. HTH. #4. FS: Low Mileage Stock '98 M3/4 - from David Hogg

Date: Sat, 28 Sep 2002 08:38:15 -0400 From: "David Hogg" <springwood@blazenet.net> Subject: FS: Low Mileage Stock '98 M3/4 Yes, really! A mild-mannered banker friend just turned in this car off lease. Silver over black leather. It's beautiful, and has just UNDER 40,000 miles on it. Never tracked or AX'ed, and not one mod (really). I'd buy it myself if mine had higher miles on it. Available at Shaull BMW, York, PA. Rick Bair, sales mgr. 717-843-8021 Ask about "Gene's car". Don't know what they're asking but the off-lease buyout number was $23,000, so I'm sure it's a dealer markup higher than that. No relationship, etc. etc. except I've bought cars there before, they give me 25% off parts & labor on my '95 IS CCA CR car for putting their sticker on it, and they're good folks! Dave Hogg

#8. How rare? - from Raginglennie@aol.com
Top
Date: Sat, 28 Sep 2002 23:41:05 EDT From: Raginglennie@aol.com Subject: How rare? Gruppe, I have a '95 Avus blue M3 with a black interior that was special ordered (nearly all blue '95s came with the gray interior). To satisfy my curiousity, is there a way I can find out just how rare this color combination is? I vaguely remember a fellow lister posting a web site where production information such as this was available. Also, where can I find a nice model of an E36 M3, preferably Avus blue? Any suggestions would be helpful. I've tossed enough money at this car recently in necessary upgrades (you know, x-brace, PF97's, floating rotors, R-compounds on BBS RK's, Koni's, GC rsm's, harnesses, etc.) and preventative maintenance, so I should get a nice model to gawk at when I'm not driving the real thing. Thanks in advance, Mike Bjerke '95 Avus blue/black M3 Dangerously careening down the slippery slope, Kumho crack pipe in hand....(and dreaming of Hoosiers)

#10. Warning for those with JTD Rear Shock Mounts - from Peter Guagenti
Top
Date: Sat, 28 Sep 2002 22:54:50 -0700 From: Peter Guagenti <peter@guagenti.com> Subject: Warning for those with JTD Rear Shock Mounts I just got back from Bill Arnold's shop in San Rafael (fixing something completely unrelated), when we discovered that my passenger side rear shock mount was loose. Seems that the stud that seats in the mount had ripped itself clean out of the actual mount (ripping apart the threads on it's way out), and the mount was loose because of this. The real issue caused by this is now the rear shock tower is bent up from it being loose. We replaced all four studs with real bolts sticking up from underneath the mount (threaded through the mount), and secured with the existing 13mm nuts. No more possibility of the mount getting loose again. Other than this happening, I've been real happy with the mount and the "his" bushings. The issue with the stud though is a big one, and well worth some preventative maintenance. Now I hope there isn't a body failure at the tower. Gotta watch that one. -peterg
