But, I must admit until I can pursuade one of our newbies to let me drive their e46 SMG during an autox I will have to reserve my opinion. This would allow me to left foot brake and still shift at the same time...sounds very interesting ;-)) Bob Gill 97 ///M3 coupe Philly Region SCCA AS Champion 1997 & 2000 BSP Champion 2001

See: http://www2.webmagic.com/eastereggs.com/ They define this as: A message hidden in the object code of a program as a joke, intended to be found by persons disassembling or browsing the code. 2. A message, graphic, or sound effect emitted by a program ... in response to some undocumented set of commands or keystrokes, intended as a joke or to display program credits. In Excel 97, you can call up a flight simulater. It worked on most of our work computers, except one with a funny graphics card. And DVD's are getting loaded with them. See: http://www.dvdeastereggs.com/easter_eggs.php Back to M3 content: Anyone know a good place to buy a 3.38 rear end on the west coast or So Calif. area? Is there a good writeup on replacing it? There was a white Porsche off at the same time, too, I think, but he got out w/o a tow. Sunday B group last run, my student came up on the Supra soon after the incident, at the exit to the toe of the boot (7). Didn't see it happen, but it looked like he'd kissed the barrier with the right rear corner. Looked still driveable, and relatively minor. Glad you had a good time. Juan, Since they're still good per BMW's spec, and provided you keep an eye on the pads and don't let get really low, I'd run them, and then replace them after the event. I would think some frame damage exists. If you have any after-market stuff, try to salvage it. You can, of course, use loctite. Also, you could use the existing nuts until you bought new ones...they're pretty cheap. Chester > driveshaft/trans flanges. #9. Mechanic in Santa Barbara - from CurtAinSB@aol.com

Date: Tue, 1 Oct 2002 01:03:59 EDT From: CurtAinSB@aol.com Subject: Mechanic in Santa Barbara About a week ago someone asked about a mechanic in SB. I've actually had very good experiences at the dealer (Cutter Motors). They are not the cheapest by far. But they do have top quality equipment (a Hunter wheel mounting and balancing machine for instance), and their techs are friendly, helpful, and take their time to do the job right. I watched one take extreme care not to damage my wheel while mounting an MXX3. I often walk straight into the (always very clean) garage area, and ask one of the techs a question. Woody and Julio are the two who have helped me most. To me it's worth the extra $ to know they will treat my car right. Just a satisfied customer, no relation or financial interest, etc. Curt Allen '95 M3

#10. Excellent Service from Steve D'Gerolamo / Ultimate Garage - from Andrew E. Kalman
Top
Date: Mon, 30 Sep 2002 22:42:12 -0700 From: "Andrew E. Kalman" <aek@pumpkininc.com> Subject: Excellent Service from Steve D'Gerolamo / Ultimate Garage Hi All. Just a quick note to express my complete satisfaction with the way Steve recently handled a small problem of mine ... a couple of years ago I bought a whole bunch of Facom tools from the Ultimate Garage to use as my track tools. Recently, the 1/4" ratchet became unreliable (it would not stay in the "turn left" or "turn right" modes reliably). I figured I had overworked the poor thing, so I asked Steve if rebuild kits (with a new pawl and spring, etc.) were available. He told me to send it to him ... so I did ... and it turns out all it needed was a cleaning and relube, which Steve did ... and he sent it back cleaned and in fine working order, all at no charge. Now that's great customer service! Regards, -- ______________________________________ Andrew E. Kalman, Ph.D. aek@pumpkininc.com
