JTD stands for JT Designs (http://www.jt-designs.com/). A JTD RSM is the JT Designs Rear Shock Mount (like Andrew stated and there are also many others that make this mount along with BMW OE units). RTB can stand for Rear Trailing arm Bushing as well (at least I have seen it used this way) as well as Rear Tower Brace (like Andrew stated). I think JTD makes a Rear Tower Brace but I don't recall them making any type of Rear Trailing arm Bushing. Regards, Rich

I do not think it is loud or drones. Some out-of-towners were riding with me this weekend, and the lady in the backseat remarked many times how much she liked the car's sound. One observation shared by others about the fit: the tips on mine just barely touch the rear valence. All things being equal and starting again, I might pick the ActiveAutoWerks gen III, but I do like the UUC. hth, Steve > Date: Mon, 7 Oct 2002 07:20:12 -0700 (PDT) > From: DocWyte <josh_wyte@yahoo.com> > Subject: How loud is the UUC System U exhaust? > > Thinking of picking one of these up used. How much are you paying? I just got a new UUC TSE exhaust for my 98 M3 at their introductory price of $540 and I just love it. I get noticeably more power as evidenced by my exit and straightaway speeds at a track event this last weekend. The exhaust is tuned beautifully and sound great idling and under acceleration, but it is very quite when cruising at a constant speed. The only odd thing is that when this exhaust gets hot, the tips move as much as 1/2" or more to the left! It has melted the corner of the rear diffuser though, so it has a nice fit now! Unless you are saving a lot of money on the used System U, you might want to consider the TSE. Dave Kelley 98 M3/4 94 325i

Usually, they just pop out of the clamp...and then proceed to rip up the interior of the trunk. (and then, totally frustrated, you forget to put it back in the car when you leave the track...) I'm a little surprised you didn't hear the destruction going on, especially at an autocross. Either way, it is hard to judge without seeing the offending parts, but my guess is that a few tack welds will do the trick (with a little paint to hide it all). Just be happy you don't have to repaint your trunk! Dan

His was primarily a track car so he didn't mind. Nice sound, but a whole lot of it. I don't know whether the design might have changed at all since he bought it though. Neil 96 M3

I have the System U on my car and it's been a love/hate relationship. ;) Actually, I'm edging more towards loving it now that we've spent more time together. I think sound is somewhat subjective, but yes... It's loud. It's not nearly as loud as it was when it was first installed, but it is still a bit loud. It sounds great outside of the car and it's absolutely incredible on track or just running through the gears up into the high rpms. I can hear it enough when cruising on the freeway that I have to turn the volume up on my stereo to drown it out. It only "drones" or has any annoying qualities between about 3k-4k on my car. Everyone who's driven in the car or heard it from out side loves it, so I think I just have an ear that's a bit sensitive to certain sounds. Fit was a big issue until I got under it and really fooled around with the hangers for a while. It fits fine now. The sound has really grown on me, and it lost a bit of volume and some of the annoying sounds after a nice track weekend. If you want stealth, this isn't for you! ;) Jonathan L. >From: DocWyte <josh_wyte@yahoo.com> > >Thinking of picking one of these up used. Is it >annoyingly loud? They're (two of them) the little triangular looking plastic pieces that so often got detached, one way or the other, from our cars. Anyhow, now that I've upgraded to the JTD aluminum splash shield, I no longer need them. Anyone out there want them for free? Granted they're not new, they appear to be in good condition. Let me know, I'm in the Southern California area. Irvine/Newport-Beach, to be exact. :-) Phil Estoril 99 M3/2, a bit deviated from the stock configuration Black 96 'Burban, almost completely stock

When I went to put the tire back at the end of the day, I noticed the jack laying on the floor, with THE CLAMP ATTACHED!! It looks like the metal cracked right off. How much is this going to cost me to get fixed???<< The same exact thing happened to me about 6 mos after I bought the car! Its been this way for over 3 yrs now. It looks to me like the part just broke off. All I do now is lay the jack down next to the spare in the spare tire well, where it used to be securely stowed. It hasnt made any noise, so I dont think its a big deal. Anyway, as I recall, when it used to be stowed on its mooring, you couldnt really get it out without first removing the spare. It was a big pain. Now I just have to lift up one side of the spare and I can just pull the jack out.
