Sorry, bad advise. The separated pork chops will become the lowest part of nose; will be the first to scrape the curbs; will tear apart the mounting points in plastic wheel well liners in short order. BTDT. Toss the pork chops. Their alleged benefits and unsubstantiated while the draw backs are a PITA. alex f > Anyhow, now that I've upgraded to the JTD aluminum splash shield, I no longer > need them. I've had the Pilotis for 3 seasons now and am quite happy with them. I put them on at the hotel and they stay on all day until I get back at night, including trips to town for lunch and dinner when at the Glen. They have a little thicker sole than normal driving shoes but not like a sneaker, so they are comfortable enough to walk around in. Don't know if I'd want to use as a walking shoe but good for all around. I'm probably going to give their 10w40 a test and will need to order some within the next couple of weeks. Also... anyone with opinions on Piloti shoes? I've been considering getting a pair as track weekend driving shoes, that are also comfortable enough to wear around away from the track. (any good online prices for those either??) I am going to try a different pad, even if it means giving up some of the performance. Back in August, at Watkins Glen, I had to close off my brake ducts as the pads were not getting warm enough (this is probably a first at The Glen) as I had unveven pad material build up on the rotors. I guess I am too easy on brakes (too many years driving around in my 2002 with marginal brakes I guess). I have two more track days coming up and I will have a final verdict on them then. Also I found some stuff that seems to get the brake dust cement off my factory wheels, It is a Durogloss (901?) wheel cleaner that my father found at a local speed shop. You still need to scrub a little, but it is not impossible. I thought my factory wheels were ruined until I tried this stuff. >>Also, I used to run the PF90s, and the PF97s when the came out on the M3, >>and again, no problem with not being able to clean the wheels. Someone here from the Irvine area will pick 'em up this week. Btw, thanks Chester for the suggestion/advise but I'm too lazy to try it. Also I'm quite weary of them running into parking barriers then ultimating destroying the whole underside (again). I'm sure there are benefits in doing so but I'm just too unmotivated at this point... Phil 99 M3/2

This evening, I noticed a small puddle of coolant under the radiator. I jacked the car up, and it is coming from the drivers side of the radiator. Hoses look fine, but the radiator housing has coolant on the outside for the bottom 4-5 inches. This is on my 97 M3/4 So is my radiator shot? Should I just order the cooling kit from Bimmerparts.com with the aluminum radiator housing? Anything else I should replace while I am at it? Chris 97 M3/4

Date: Mon, 07 Oct 2002 19:57:13 -0600 From: mdufford@mindspring.com Subject: Re: How loud is the UUC System U exhaust? I have to chime in here. I have a UUC System U exhaust with straight tips on my M3. While it is louder than stock, it isn't loud. Actually I'm a bit disappointed. Car alarms never go off when starting my car in an enclosed parking garage. When I participate in events with modded Viper's, Corvettes and P-cars I have to check the tach to make sure the car is running since I can't hear it otherwise. The neighbors have only remarked about the shriek of the Pagid Oranges, never the exhaust. I seem to be lucky with droning, none. Sounds good under throttle, but relatively quiet otherwise. Fit is good, was an easy install. I like the fact that it doesn't protrude significantly from the diffuser like many set-ups. My .02 cents. Max 97 M3 91 Toyota V6 Pickup, much louder than the M3.

At this point I'm all of 45 minutes from the hotel and my buddies. It takes me 7 (!!!!) hours to get there!! No accidents, no weather, just everybody and their brother, and their cousin, and their sister's mother in law's brother's sorta friend on the road! Damn, talk about frustrating!
