Nicolas" <wes@nicolas.org> Subject: CV Joint My 1995 M3 is approaching 123,000 miles and I'm hearing a clicking sound from the left rear when taking right turns. My guess is that the CV joint is failing..any other thoughts? More importantly, should I replace both CV axles? What are the part numbers? Thanks much! Wes '95 M3

Not sure if the '96+ ones would fit, but I would use the bigger, fatter half shafts. Chester --- "Wesley A. It's the OBDII air pump pumping more air into the exhaust manifold to help with emissions. #5. too far a drive? - from Paul Elliott

Date: Tue, 8 Oct 2002 16:18:47 -0400 From: "Paul Elliott" <elliott.paul@worldnet.att.net> Subject: too far a drive? Driving alone from the New York area to the Miami Fla area, its about 1500 miles I believe. People who have done it say to allow up to 24 hrs drive time, although averaging 70 mph, you can do it in just over about 20 hrs. Do you guys think this is a reasonable drive to do alone? If so, how would you break it up? Id feel more safe with another person, in case I get overly tired, or sick, or who knows what. But, do you think its ok alone? Hell, It only takes me about 4 hrs to get from the same place (tappanzee bridge) up to Brewster on the Cape, a 250 mile drive! If I had people with me, I'd probably get a hotel along the way. If I didn't, I'd probably pull into a trucker oriented travel center along the way and take a nap. Most likely I'd stop in Southern Virginia or once I got to North Carolina. That's about 9-10 hours in depending on how you drive (and when you attempted to leave NY). Just bring a good supply of whatever it is keeps you awake and alert to the road. You do realize it's probably cheaper all-told (maintenance, wear) to fly, right? -matt -- matthew c. mead 97 Dakar M3/4 - sharked, xbraced 97 White GS-R/4 - stock (wife's) 92 Black Miata - dropped, dampened, headed towards SM http://www.goof.com/~mmead/

When i bought my M3 7 months ago, i had to fly and pick it up in Rochester, NY and drive it home to Amarillo, TX (1600 miles) by myself. I did it in two days, 12 hours driving each day. I stopped and stayed the night in St. Louis (just about half-way). One thing that helps me stay awake when i'm alone during long road trips is eating sunflower seeds. Otherwise, i'm dosing off every 2 miles. :-) Good luck!
