Ed I don't think the washer has be be a tight fit on the bolts, as long as it's close. I used SAE size flat washers I bought at the local home improvement center. I think they were 7/16", but not sure. Pop one of the bolts out and take it with you. They take an 18mm socket. The washers I used were ~.1" and gave ~1 degree negative. I recently bought some new ones from my local auto parts store that are about .06" because of some tweaking I'm doing. I've also heard of people using valve adjusting shims which can be had in many thicknesses. Problem is, I can't remember which kind of valve shims to get. Your toe will be changed slightly and should be reset. The caster should not be affected. BTW, if you determine what size and thickness you want, you can probably order from www.mcmaster.com. Good luck - Jay

#6. Sub-Belt Installation? - from Dave Kelley

Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 11:35:05 -0400 From: "Dave Kelley" <d.kelley@usa.net> Subject: Sub-Belt Installation? I'm installing 5-point harnesses in my 98 M3 Sedan with stock manual seats. I need recommendations for how to install the anti-submarine, i.e. crotch belt. I was just going to drill a hole through the floor for an I-Bolt and mounting plates. But upon inspection, it doesn't look like there is a place to safely drill through the floor on either the driver or passenger side. Is there a safe place to drill through the floor or is there another mounting method? I do not want to put anything under the seat rails that will raise the seat height! Dave Kelley 98 M3/4 94 325i

One side rattles, and the other squishes and squeaks with every blip of the accelerator. Anyhow, it should just push back in. I don't think there are even any of those plastic interior clips to keep it in place. I've been playing with my b-pillar trims trying to get the noises to go away, and after every adjustment, I just push them back in with normal force, having them underlap with the fake leather trim as appropriate. But maybe I'm not understanding your predicament correctly. Here is a URL for some extensive discussion of the trim: http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=4ef41d77e9d82f409a6ca1d885db56db&threadid=37193 >Anyone know how the black interior trim piece is affixed to the B >pillar? Frankly, you don't have the right to tell me (or anyone on this List) what I can or can't discuss. Only Suzy (and her whip :-)) does. </rant> >So if >anybody wants to persue it, feel free to email me privately.. Pfft. I'll continue the discussion right here on the List, thankyouverymuch. Chester & Alex may delete....now. Got the M3 back from the shop this morning. Unfortunately, no solution to the sticking shifter. There was no access panel on the transmission to try to effect any internal investigation or fix. Bill thought he might give Jim Blanton a call and see if he's got any ideas. So for the time being it's just something I'll have to live with <shrug>. Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2002 11:26:01 -0700 (PDT) From: Hunt Hodgetts <hhodgetts@yahoo.com> Subject: keyless question I recently purchased a 99 M3 that has the factory security and a key fob to arm and disarm the system. I ran into another 99 M3 owner today and his key has the remove lock & unlock buttons built into the key. When we looked under the hood, I did not see the factory security siren that mine has. Is it possible to get a remote for my M3 that is built into the key? __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Y!
