Date: Thu, 7 Nov 2002 14:30:13 -0800 From: Cody_McCoy <Cody_McCoy@sd.vrtx.com> Subject: cold start miss Group What effect does the idle control valve have on cold starts?, the reason I ask is on cold starts my 95 rumbles like it's missing a cylinder or two, car has new plugs fresh oil, and runs ok when warm or warm outside, just stumbles on cold overnight parking, intermittent coil? fuel pump?, lifter stuck closed or open?, problem goes away after a couple hundred yards of driving but no amount of idle warm up will get rid of it, this one has me stumped, a search thru TIS symptoms and tech bulletins returns fuel injector cleaning and testing and fuel pressure check, but I would think it would be failed and not intermittent, radiator recently failed and gave the motor a small dowsing but nothing a rag wouldn't clean, checked all obvious connectors for liquid damage but it's been going on for a week now so liquids should be dry....ughh, as always all help much appreciated. Every now and then, especially if it's been sitting for a couple of days, it will run extremely rough on startup, and gradually smooth out in a couple of minutes. Applying throttle does not seem to make it clear up any sooner. My mechanic switched from Bosch to NGK plugs to try to cure this, then tried switching from Mobil 1 to BMW synthetic. I also changed the fuel filter, but nothing seems to help. - Chris

They also do rather well on the track. I'm curious, has anyone tried the new Goodyear Eagle F1s? I read a comparison in the English magazine EVO that rated them #1 after track testing in France and said they were very predictable. Their is a pretty neat website with Dereck Bell driving them on a section of the Monte Carlo Rally on an E46 M3 at http://www.eaglef1.com/. That's its downside. BTW, don't take this to mean that you boiled your fluid. A bleeding can't hurt (hehe) but you'd have really, really hard time boiling the fluid in D group @ Sears Point. And you would have felt brake fade if you did. I am not a mechanic, this is just an opinion for your enterntainment, bad brakes can most certainly kill you. Gleb

Date: Thu, 7 Nov 2002 20:32:25 EST From: Mdriver13@aol.com Subject: shark injector - help! Group, I think during my Inspection II last month, the dealer may have "unsharked" me. Is this possible? Is there an easy way to tell whether the program is still in there???? Seat of the pants tells me I'm unsharked...but that's not very scientific.

Very :-) Where's your rev limit? That should tell you whether you're still Sharked or not. Jim Bassett
