Looking for $550 plus shipping from Tampa. Craig

Full blown mountain bike that is comfortable, good looking, and perhaps best of all fits in your E36 M3 trunk without even putting the seats down. 21 speeds, front suspension, yadda yadda ya. It was $995 from BMW and I am selling it for $500 brand new and if I have to ship the seller pays shipping. It's silver and these pics show it pretty well although in person it looks a little beefier. I would prefer a Boston area buyer but really just need to get it out of the closet. http://home.attbi.com/~dspragg/BMWMTB/open.jpg http://home.attbi.com/~dspragg/BMWMTB/folded.jpg Dave Spragg dave@spragg.com Natick, MA 99 M3 Garage Queen (for sale) 92 330is Sharked, #330 I Prepared ____________________________________________________________________ eMail Privacy Protected by QuarantineMail (http://www.quarantinemail.com) Licensed to: dspragg@attbi.com ************************************************************* List Commands UNSUBSCRIBE - (in subject line) unsubscribes you from the mailing list. #3. First Report - UUC TMS Exhaust - from Mel Silva
Top
Date: Sat, 16 Nov 2002 22:37:02 -0600 From: "Mel Silva" <melsilva@mindspring.com> Subject: First Report - UUC TMS Exhaust Actually, I received my UUC TMS (Twin Muffler System) exhaust for Penny (my '97 E36 M3/4) almost two weeks ago. But Penny has been "visiting" the local dealer for the last 6 weeks. I say visiting because for 4 1/2 of those 6 weeks, the Dealer and I were waiting for the Insurance Company (D@$& F#@G* BA#@!#D Farmers) to approve the repairs which wound up totally over $2K. Anyway, that is another very long a drawn out story.... So. Yesterday I picked up Penny and we went immediately to Advanced Auto Technicians were the UUC TMS sat waiting for my arrival. Since I had a rack available, the exhaust exchange took all of 30 minutes. The most difficult part was aligning the drivers side exhaust gasket. Everything else went perfectly. The guys at the shop were drooling over the brightly polished stainless finish. It looked great. So, I fired up Penny. Nice throaty growl. I liked it immediately. Perfectly quiet at idle, you wouldn't even know it was a different exhaust, until you hit the gas that is. On the ride home, I received to cell phone calls, that is when I became aware of how much louder the exhaust note is. I put the windows up and closed the sunroof, but could still hear the exhaust and it seemed loud. Through a little experimentation I have found that the exhaust resonates at a very low RPM (comparatively), at just about 2600 RPM the tone becomes very pleasant. I was bogging the motor down around 1800 RPM when it seemed so loud. Downshift and it gets much quieter (either that or my ears are shot and I need hearing aids). They say that this exhaust takes almost 1K miles to "break in", we shall see. I just re-sharked Penny (didn't want the dealer to overwrite the shark program or something else weird so I reverted Penny to stock before taking her to the dealer), and the idle doesn't seem as quiet anymore. I didn't drive her yet in "shark mode", I'll see if it changes anything tomorrow. Mel Houston, TX

Date: Sat, 16 Nov 2002 21:54:45 -0800 (PST) From: Brad Ahrens <txsaggie97@yahoo.com> Subject: Need Help Update - Car Idling After doing as search on BF I came up with a likely suspect. The Idle Control Valve -ICV Using Eclou's (Thanks Eugene for the posted hints and pics) method of removal - although I removed more as I am not nearly so handy but the pics were great - I pulled it and sure enough it had decided to stick closed. With no way to the parts store I soaked the mechanical side in parts cleaner until it was freed up and cleaned it best I could. With the valve moving freely I reinstalled and bingo. Idle. Probably ought to look into a new one though but at least I am up and running. Brad __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Date: Sun, 17 Nov 2002 11:29:14 -0500 From: "Dave Kelley" <d.kelley@usa.net> Subject: Re: [E36M3] First Report - UUC TMS Exhaust I've been running the TSE on my 98 for about a month and have done a couple track weekends with it. I like the sound, but I would have to rate it "loud", especially when on the throttle. Cruising at speed is not too bad. The only problem you may have is the the exhaust tends to move to the left, driver's side, when it gets hot. My tips are centered perfectly when cold, but when hot, they move to the left and have melted the forward inside corner of the rear splitter. You can't see it, but its not like stock any more! UUC has an exhaust hanger "brace" kit that is supposed to stabilize it a little. This is free if it did not come with your exhaust. It includes a longer bolt, at larger washer, and a small brace that goes horizontally along the exhaust hanger. I haven't put it on yet, so I don't know how well it works. BTW, my car is sharked, both before and after the new exhaust, and I can verify a power increase based on my corner exit speeds at the track. This exhaust also did very well, apparently, in the exhaust testing in the current issue of European Car. #10. Feel Like a total idiot!! - from Jamie Howton

Date: Sun, 17 Nov 2002 15:14:33 -0600 From: "Jamie Howton" <jhowton@fotofab.com> Subject: Feel Like a total idiot!! Hi all, Well, I installed new brake rotors, pads and SS brake lines on my 95 M3 yesterday. Today I bled the brakes and clutch. After I removed the clutch slave, depressed the plunger with the nipple open, closed the nipple and re-installed the slave, I pushed the clutch pedal to the floor where it stayed (I also heard a dull clunk from the tranny area). I removed the slave again and it turns out that I didn't properly ensure that the slave rod was seated on the clutch release arm because the entire internals of the clutch slave emptied themselves into the inside of the clutch housing. I now have brand new ATE super blue leaking from the two holes at the bottom of the clutch housing: http://www.howton.net/WEB1.jpg Additionally my clutch slave no longer has an actuating rod, that's inside the clutch housing. http://www.howton.net/WEB2.jpg Well, it's the original clutch anyway and the car has 78K miles on it so it looks like I'm doing a clutch replacement. Unless of course anyone knows the right incantation that'll put everything back the way it was so I can try again?? Any advice before I get started is welcome. I do have the Bentley and have done Porsche 928 clutches x3, but those are relatively easy -- no transmission removal is necessary. Anyone know who sells those Engine support beams?
