If you can retrieve the rod and clean up as best as possible, it is possible that all is not lost and you don't have to drop the tranny. You'll have to reseat the metal plate (it snaps into place)....I used a big socket to hit evenly at the circumference. It was one of the very first if not the first supercharged M3's in the US built by Will Turner as his personal track day toy and terror machine. I have since taken out the blower and stripped it and put the car to good use. Most of the Boston Chapter call it Das Beast but I think there is a new Beast in town up here. The latest supercharger 3.2 powered car by Will Turner with custom intercooling and programming along with a bunch of other toys that make it very, very fast. I played with the car while taking it's owner (who shall remain nameless unless he speaks up) and I would be willing to bet we were running 1:12's around NHIS in it. A full street car with a rollbar and a bitchin stereo and all... A simply fantastic toy and it never skipped a beat. http://home.attbi.com/~dspragg/20021020NHISRace2BlurSmall.jpg Dave Spragg dave@spragg.com Natick, MA 99 M3 Garage Queen (for sale) 92 330is Sharked, #330 I Prepared (Das Beast) -----Original Message----- From: Sue Kraft [mailto:suekraft@new.rr.com] Sent: Sunday, November 17, 2002 10:43 AM To: E36M3 Subject: [E36M3] I named my M3... I never noticed this with the stock exhaust. Do they move at all when they warm up? After trying several different alignments with the Supersprint, I settled on having it aligned slightly right of center when it'd cold, so when it heats up and moves left, it ends up being slightly left of center. In both extremes, the exhaust tips don't make contact with the plastic edges of the valence cutout. And because it's close to center, it never looks odd. No melted plastic here! ;-) Ron Buchalski BMWCCA #76387 1995 E36 M3 1993 E34 525iT 1999 Mazda Miata >Date: Sun, 17 Nov 2002 11:29:14 -0500 >From: "Dave Kelley" <d.kelley@usa.net> >Subject: Re: [E36M3] First Report - UUC TMS Exhaust > >I've been running the TSE on my 98 for about a month and have done >a couple track weekends with it. Date: Sun, 17 Nov 2002 20:32:03 -0600 From: "Mel Silva" <melsilva@mindspring.com> Subject: RE: [E36M3] I named my M3... Uh, This actually started with my last track Mustang, the one with twin white stripes over black [http://www.amt.org/mel/Mustangs/Sears/XV_Sears_T7.htm]. Since it looked like a skunk and was plenty quick it got the name Pepe, as in Pepe Le Pew. It took me 6 months to find an M3 that I liked and when I found out it was Byzanz (Copper Color) [http://www.amt.org/mel/Penny_BMW_M3.htm], I knew I had to name this car, especially after reading all about Jim Powell's "Katerina" (see, he started it!) while waiting for my car to be delivered. I racked my brain and could not think of an appropriate name. As an aspiring writer, I keep hundreds of books around me and one of them is "The Fiction Writers Silent Partner" which has a section of names for characters. I started thumbing through it to get an idea for a name when I saw the name Penny. Penny, sounds kinda like Pepe, penny's are copper... it just fit. So there you have it, the story of how I named my car Penny. Cute, ha! It's practical, when I say "Penny", everyone I know knows exactly "who" I'm talking about.
