I DO NOT think that companies should be able to advertise on the list. I subscribe to have informative discussions about E36 M3's, not to have someone tell me what their special of the week is. If someone wants to hear what is on special, maybe there should be a separate list available for that. Or maybe said company can have their own e-mail list that users can subscribe to (like Omnitec Motorsports has). I have been a member of other lists (i.e. Rennlist) and they have sponsors that have a weblink at the bottom of a digest for example. I do however like when individual listers sell their new/used parts, as they are usually a great deal for fellow listers and they are not in large quantities. Wes '95 M3

I had them when I used a mixture of 75W90 and 75W90NS in my diff. Going to straight 75W90 fixed the problem. You might just try putting fresh synthetic diff fluid in the car and see if it helps. I pretty much agree with those comments already made. Keep it concise, clear, E36 M3 specific, and a deal or promotion, not general advertising unless it is like the UUC Digest where it is tacked on to the bottom of the digest (that is reasonable). > > I would charge a nominal amount so that it helps to support your cost for running the list/website. > Regards, > Rich This doesn't help the discussion at all... but the advertising on the UUC Digest is totally free, I've never charged for it. I put vendors there that ask, and that I feel are legitimate and honest, true enthusiasts. But with that in mind, UUC would be willing to step up and sponsor the E36M3 list if Suzy needs some assistance. - Rob Levinson UUC Motorwerks * http://www.uucmotorwerks.com

It's kinda on the expensive side...something like $15 or so. On a side note, I was playing with my 4 from my old trunk as I was drilling some holes in the new trunklid...eeek! I actually managed not to screw it up :) Chester --- Reid Conti <reid@conti.net> wrote: > Date: Mon, 18 Nov 2002 15:21:44 -0800 > From: Reid Conti <reid@conti.net> > Subject: wing screw > > anybody know if the wing on my 95 m3 (coupe, but has the sedan wing.. > argh) uses some screw that's a BMW part, or just a standard screw? > > Somehow one of the screws came loose.. it's got rust all between the > threads, and does not hold the wing. Date: Mon, 18 Nov 2002 23:02:07 -0500 From: "Patrick Buthmann" <patrick@teutonic.ca> Subject: Re: [E36M3] List advertising Gang, This just occurred to me in regards to advertising on the list (which on the surface, could have some decent benefits for list members). What happens in the event someone has a problem with either the product(s) or service(s) of a *vendor* who is sponsoring the list? If a member wishes to mention this problem to other members in the event a solution can be worked out, or simply to indicate their unhappiness with said vendor, do we get into a conflict of interest situation? While I don't condone mud-slinging, especially since all situations are unique and not all facts are made apparent, I'd still hate to see a post on the list be censored due to political conflicts between a vendor who is paying for advertising and one of our members. Unfortunately, not all vendors are able to satisfy all customers, and occasionally a conflict arises. If we could be guaranteed that the list would maintain pure media impartiality (such as the car mag's do), it would help the situation immensely. That being said, if financial resources are part of the issue for the list, I'm willing to assist in a contribution (though being a relatively new member to the list) to maintain it. It's certainly been a great help to me, in large part to some vendors who are active members on this list. While I've had great success so far, my preference is to keep the list available to me as an impartial resource, without being censored in favour of advertising dollars. May I suggest that you place the add at the bottom of the message right above where the digest command info goes? That way if you are interested to see the add just look at it at the bottom and if you are not interested just don't look. Joe. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? #8. Brad's Idle Problem - from Foley, Brian

Date: Mon, 18 Nov 2002 23:29:17 -0500 From: "Foley, Brian" <bfoley@cmpd.org> Subject: Brad's Idle Problem Brad, Glad you found the problem. I was just going to suggest this after the same thing happened to my '97 this week. These Idle Air Control valves are really effected by colder weather and tend to freeze up. Oddly enough, this problem plauges our Ford Crown Vic patrol cars here in Charlotte during the winter months. Usually a blow with a hammer will free the internal piston for a short time, but I'd highly reccomend replacement as soon as you can. Brian Sergeant B.P. #9. Advertising to the list - from Msebmwman@aol.com

Date: Mon, 18 Nov 2002 23:50:18 EST From: Msebmwman@aol.com Subject: Advertising to the list Suzy; I liked the idea that someone had posted earlier. Limit advertising about E36M3 specific items to a once a week message. That way the listers or digesters can read or ignore or delete. Or, can also save to refer to for the advertised specials. If the advertising messages are limited to just the one message per week it would be easy to go back and find them to refer to. Charge them for the service to support your hosting. You could charge based on the types or amount of the discounts offered to the list or just a flat rate. Regards, Marc

#10. Steve Kleins driveline clunk - from Msebmwman@aol.com
Top
Date: Mon, 18 Nov 2002 23:55:15 EST From: Msebmwman@aol.com Subject: Steve Kleins driveline clunk Steve; I have 2 95 M3s. One is an 8/95 build with only delrin bushings and 320i transmission bushings in the driveline. I have this car since new. The other is a 95 M3 LTW with ACS SS kit, delrin bushings, JTD CroMoly steel transmission support with some very firm bushings, modified suspension etc. I have had this car for 3.5 years and bought it from Bob Stommel. Both cars have been tracked. They both have made the clunk from the first day I owned them. Travel along in second, let of the gas, push in the clutch, and clunk, clunk. Sometimes one, sometimes a couple, but almost always under those circumstances. I've never had any driveline problems with either car. I assume that it is a feature of the way the car is configured. I'm not saying that your clunk isn't something else going on, especially if it is new to your car. As always, my observations and YMMV. Regards, Marc 2 clunkers....
