This list has an ebb and flow, but frequently does about 20-30 emails / day. Using that number I think that 1 email a week among about 150 isn't unbearable, even for those among us that don't want any. The possible opportunity for access to new parts, enhanced pricing, or better information would, I think, far outweigh any possible intrusion that an advertising might be. I don't imagine that you want to alineate any list members, but I have yet to see anything other than excellent judgement on your behalf since I subscribed to this list a little over a year ago. I have complete faith in your decision either way. Like in another thread going around where the idle is lower / less smooth in the first few seconds after startup, then evens out. Or are you at a light, and the rpms stay the same but the car is shaking a little? If you were in So Cal I would say that it's an earthquake, and if it's less than 3 or 4 points just ignore it, but I don't think you folks have them things out there. And you would know if it was a tornado just from the visual ques. Ads would not change the character of the list IMO. And given the service you provide to all of us, I think you should do whatever works for you and/or helps ensure continuation of the list. #6. Yoko AVS Intermediates? - from Vern Anderson

Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 22:25:02 -0500 From: "Vern Anderson" <vernon_anderson@yahoo.com> Subject: Yoko AVS Intermediates? Has anyone had any experience with the Yokohama AVS Intermediates? TireRack has them on closeout sale and I was just wondering if they were decent tires. I was putting my snow tires on tonight and noticed that my regular street tires really don't have more than 2-3K of life left in them. I have mutiple sets of track and autocross tires, so my street tire criteria are pretty basic - hold air, move water, handle OK and give solid life. Anyone ever use the Yoko AVS I's?? Thanks! The dealer reset the fault code and I've had no recurrence. The sensor in integrated into the seat belt latch and the entire assembly must be replaced if the sensor is bad. Try having the dealer reset the fault code before you replace the latch assembly (the dealer should have tried this already. Cost you quote is in line with the quote I received; the part cost is $260. #8. AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! People suck more than ever! - from Wayne Miller

Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 23:17:29 -0500 From: "Wayne Miller" <m3@waynemiller.com> Subject: AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! People suck more than ever! I don't even remember if I posted this but 2 weeks and one day ago (exactly 1 week after I picked up my car), my E46M3 was broken into on the streets of NYC right by my apartment. They busted the door lock and stole my V1, gloves and foam bumper guards that I use in the garage. I was only parking for a short time and I didn't feel like making the trek to the garage so I figured it would be safe in my neighborhood. I got a new V1, replaced the lock, installed the BMW alarm, had it activated and felt a little better. Until 5:40pm today. I went outside of my office in NJ (a nice section too) and there was my passenger side window, sitting on the ground next to the car. This time they only damaged the driver's side lock and couldn't get it open so they broke the window. They stole nothing - not even my new V1. Apparently they are after something in the manuals because the glove compartment was open. My guess is that many people leave the plastic emergency key in the glove compartment and they were looking for that to drive the car away. The manual was in my apartment because of the last break-in (I didn't want the nice leather case stolen) and I don't even have the plastic key. I can't believe that I don't even have my license plates yet and my car has been broken into twice! Is it because it stands out like a sore thumb with the Phoenix Yellow paint? Has anyone else heard of break-ins on E46M3's? Anyway, if this happens again, I will seriously consider selling it and picking up another E36M3. Maybe I should keep those spare parts a little bit longer now.... -Wayne '01 E46M3 Phoenix Yellow/Black with no window and a damaged lock P.S. I already have the blank lock replacement but it hasn't been painted yet so it isn't on the car. It will be REAL soon.
