My car has no troubles starting in the coldest weather, idle now goes to about 1500rpm and stays there for the first 30 seconds or so (based on temp and throttle position), no more hunting or stalling. I have to wonder if this BMW update was encorporated into the newer JC software, I would assume so... Perhaps there is more than one revision out there (I've heard he updates them for free if he makes a change). I've had mine since July and they seem fine to me but I'm not on the speed edge that many on this list are. In the rain they seem good also. My son has a set on his 325is and his only complaint was some minor tramlining which I haven't noticed on the M3 Carey > Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 22:25:02 -0500 > From: "Vern Anderson" <vernon_anderson@yahoo.com> > Subject: Yoko AVS Intermediates? > > Has anyone had any experience with the Yokohama AVS Intermediates? Well, they are discontinuing them for a reason. For the most part, they are round, have a tread pattern, contain carbon black, steel and rubber and are a properly rated tire :-) Actually, everything I hear is that they are no where as good as most of the alternatives available. The tire is dated and most other offerings exceed its abilities. The new Yok ES100 sounds like a much better tire with better wear and noise characteristics and better wet performance at a lower list price (see current Roundel). Basic proof that the AVS Intermediates time has passed. But, for the that price, I would consider it. In summary, I hear they provide adequate traction in the dry, pretty lousy in the wet (particularly as they wear), decent handling and wear fairly quickly. Yes, they also hold air ;-) Later, Rich 95 M3 - MXX3s 90 325is - Nokian Hakka Qs right now, S03s coming next spring

Like in another thread going around where the idle is lower / less smooth in the first few seconds after startup, then evens out. Or are you at a light, and the rpms stay the same but the car is shaking a little? If you were in So Cal I would say that it's an earthquake, and if it's less than 3 or 4 points just ignore it, but I don't think you folks have them things out there. I seem to recall you had an overheating problem a few months back. My thought is that something that was worked on then wasn't reinstalled correctly. #10. Sylvania Extra Vision and Silverstar Bulbs (Good Deal) - from Nsxlr8@aol.com
Top
Date: Wed, 20 Nov 2002 12:08:37 EST From: Nsxlr8@aol.com Subject: Sylvania Extra Vision and Silverstar Bulbs (Good Deal) I posted a couple of weeks ago regarding the PIAA Xtreme White headlamp bulbs to the three lists that I reside. The unanimus response was not to waste money on PIAA's and go with Phillips Cool Blue (at K-Mart) or Sylvania's Extra Vision or Silverstar bulbs. One response had compared all three and liked the Sylvania's far better than the Phillips. He also stated that the two Sylvania bulbs were very similar despite the Silverstar's price being more than double. I've put a set of the Extra Visions in two of our three cars and there is a definate improvement. I purchased them at Advance Auto Parts which has a deal going on now that if you buy two, you get the second at half price along with a rebate of $6 on the ExVisions and $10 on Silverstar. This works out to $10/pair on the ExVisions and $27/pair on the Silverstar. Pretty good deal IMO. I guess the Silverstar's look more "HID like" for those more concerned with that. Jeff Bjerke
