I bought a set when they were $64 each, and have been very pleased with them. After I replaced my worn out Pilot MXX3's with them I went up about 25 of ~80 places in the local BMWCCA autocross. I also did a three day track event at VIR, and found them very predictable and rather grippy. No sudden losses of traction coming out of the corners on throttle, etc. No troubles with people catching me due to my lousy tires, either. For $63, you really can't go wrong. Let us know what you think when you get a chance to wear them out a little. Cheers, Zach

I have a black center console in my M3 with an armrest. However, during track days, the armrest gets in my way even when it is folded up. Therefore, if someone has a center console withOUT an armrest in great condition, I would be willing to swap for FREE. Thanks, Scott Dallas, Texas

I would like to tackle the job of changing my rear wheel bearings as the driver's side is starting to go out. Any special tips or pointers the Bentley does not include? Any list members who have the special tools to rent out for this procedure? Or shall I save the grief and agony and leave this job to a shop? Thanks. I think I'm feeling the infamous guibo shudder from about 20 - 40 mph under load. Can anyone describe the feeling when the flex disk needs to be replaced -- or at 100K, can I just assume it's time? Also, at what point are you seeing problems with the alternator? I've replaced the belt tensioner, but there's still a whine.I replaced the OEM battery about 2 years ago. As always, thanks.Mark _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!

Since replacing the rear trailing arm bushings means I am getting an alignment anyhow, I would appreciate any suggestions on what to do at the same time - i.e. any other minor suspension bushings or bits that would be nearing their life cycle end at 60,000mi? (Already running TCK Streetline - H&R OEs + Konis) Thanks, Doug

Replacement should take 30-45 minutes for someone > who has done it before, maybe an hour if not. In an off-Digest discussion, the always knowledgeable John Firestone pointed out to me that BMW changed the seatbelt latch sensor from the failure-prone microswitch to a solid state hall sensor device. This seems to have occurred with 9/97 production for the 98 model year. Doug's car is a 99 M3, so should have the new sensor. The solid state sensor ought to be very reliable, opening up the possibility that when a problem happens it might not be due to the sensor itself. Since the Hall sensor handles a very low level signal, the circuit would tend to be more sensitive to bad or corroded contacts in the harness connectors. These ought to use gold-plated contacts, but don't. So it seems to me that the first thing to do would be to unplug the harness connector under the seat and check for corrosion. Maybe use a contact cleaner (Radio Shack) on the pins. Otherwise I can imagine replacing a relatively costly latch assembly and thinking that fixed the problem, when in fact it was the action of unplugging and re-plugging the connector that really did it. I'd be curious to know how many Digesters have had problems with the 98 or later latch assemblies. Neil 96 M3
